(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): I'm pretty new to MCRP, haven't really dabbled before. I have got a ton of experience in other TTRPGs and stuff though, and a bit in text-based roleplay. Was told MCRP is a good medium to try because of how visual and responsive it is, so here I am!

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
"Why am I making my way to the Reach?" Marco echoes, callused hands retreating into dark silk sleeves. "I suppose a change of scenery was in order, the Midlands were starting to get a little stale." His eyes drift skyward, tracing the flight of a distant bird far above the canopy. "I am stone born, you could say. Blessed by birth within Rulan." Sarcasm drips from his tone, resentment lacing each syllable. "My family has- had tended to The Wall for generations." he continues with a flat continuity in his tone. "I think my blood runs thick with mortar by now, perhaps my bones are built from concrete and rock." The man jests, gaze falling back onto the woman before him. "Many of my peers back home called me a coward, running from uncertainty. They say I could make a fortune smuggling for the Jacks, given my quick step and small frame, but I'm not built for crime, at least not up here-" Marco taps the side of his head, a half-cocked grin curling up at the corner of his lips. "Don't get me wrong, I am running, I bear no shame in that. I just figured if I was going to start asking questions, satiating my curiosity, I might as well go where the answers haven't been written yet."
"The Reach is raw, unfinished even. It certainly doesn't seem polished like the Crownlands, and by the light, I cannot imagine it being as barbaric as where I came from. Out here, there's a refreshing uncertainty, as if no one has been able to forge a thousand years of tradition built on the naive ideals of a single man." Even as she goes to comment, the monologue goes on, Marco would likely talk like this whether she was present or not. A gift courtesy of time spent alone. "They say The Spire is where a thousand stories start and nothing ends. A little too fictional for my tastes, but it has piqued my curiosity. I mean, you cannot tell me you don't share the sentiment. I mean, half of the knowledge of our world vanished when the Aedall did, and now folks out here are uncovering things we don't even have names for." He leans in slightly, lowering his voice as if relaying a well-kept secret. "Stories beyond the wall say The Reach is awakening, whatever that means. I heard bards and mediums preaching that whatever happened to the Aedell simply opened a door for the rest of humanity, and well anyone would be stupid to not get in on a bit of that glory."
It's now that he leans back, steepling his fingers in front of him. "I am not particularly fond of crowns, and I would hate for my name to lay dusty in some history books, but the excitement and opportunity here, beyond the wall- That was something I simply could not pass up, not when the alternative was patching up old stones whilst I wait for the world to change around me."
