In-Character
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
The small elfess’ eyes flit from the journal laid upon her lap, to the woman sitting besides her. There’s a moment of pause, before she makes a series of gestures with her hands in Korami Handsign. Do you know Sign? She doesn’t really wait for a response. So. I know it’s hard to tell, but if this, she gives her ear a little flick as she signs to it, is any indication, I am an elf, despite what my… Her hand twirls as an ‘uh’ before continuing, …shape would lead you to believe. So- I have a big interest in the ruins of the Southern Reach, also because I’m a scholar. Not that I really do much else- I. I mean I’m pretty weak. Not talking, I can get away with not talking, but weakness is… a lot harder to bear in Ko’ram. Plus with how many siblings I have… She pivots, But anyway the- The Aedall. I know my people separated from them a long time ago, but now they’re just- gone. She makes an exaggerated ‘poof’ sign. And all that’s left of them are enumerable ruins, the Spire- which I really want to see in person, I mean a tower that bolts through the clouds? It’s so hard to believe such a thing could really exist. She flips through her journal, stopping on a page with an artist’s rendition of the spire. Clouds swirling around the top, crystals crawling along its sides, and a comparatively tiny village barely visible as a blip at its base. I’ve tried drawing it a bunch. So many ways I’ve seen it depicted and described. How could they even build such a thing? She blinks briefly, changing subjects. And uh- what was I saying. Well, in addition to ruins, it’s also just a land with so many new animals and flora and things to explore and see. It’s exciting isn’t it?
The only response Arielle receives is, “That’s a beautiful drawing dear.”
And Arielle’s face wracks with disappointment and embarrassment, shifting to a noticeable pink. All that, and the woman didn’t understand a word. Arielle flips to a blank page in her journal, with a noticeable delay before she writes in charcoal. Her hand moves to write the letters, before tucking away the pencil and lifting the journal to bare to the woman. The energy is totally taken from Arielle, with the words simply displaying: New sights, with a smiley face next to it.

Character Name: Arielle Il’Valyris
Character Race: Arsa Sidhe (Korami)
Character Age: 22
Brief Physical Description: Standing at an abnormal 5’2”, and a rather plump build of ~210lbs. Taking into account her chubby facial features, the only thing preventing her from being mistaken for a half-Arsa is her long, pointed ears. In spite of her peculiar (amongst elves at the very least) appearance, Arielle takes great care of her body and appearance. It is rare to see Arielle without any amount of makeup or piercings, and she is often rotating between various hairstyles and outfits.
(Note I couldn’t integrate organically: Arielle's height is the consequence an unspecified developmental condition, primarily resulting in poor constitution. This is a fantasy world with fantasy biology, so it will remain undefined.)
