Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum)
Vaella turns her head to face her respectfully, however Vaella did not understand a word of what the lady had said. Her mind racing with things to say, but unsure if it was of any use as the lady may simply not speak her tongue. She silently chastises herself for not preparing for a situation like this, but how could she? Her Mother blinded by faith and misguided prophecies refused to teach Vaella of any outsider culture, believing that was the first step to reviving their ancestral ways. Vaella settled with an idea and removed a locket from her satchel and presented it to the older woman, opening it to reveal a small but detailed illustration of her Father that her mother had painted when she was a child.
"Vaella" she stated plainly, motioning to herself in the hopes that the lady would atleast understand that was her name. She'd then whisk away the locket back into her satchel and smile at the older woman, hoping that she didn't come off too peculiar. Though she realises this may only be the beginning of her troubles venturing forwards, as her mother had warned, but Vaella didn't care. There was a world out there to explore and people to meet, so she leapt at the first opportunity to leave home and her first stop in her path was the Spire.

Brief Physical Description: Standing at 6'3, a bit shorter than the average elf, Vaella has shimmering silver hair that leads down to her lower-back (however it is commonly in a half-tied half-down style). Her eyes a pale lavender, often wide with curiosity and attentiveness. She'll be seen often sporting light leather armour whenever possible, though she isn't against the idea of a pretty gown when the time calls for it.
