Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and a variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

Yelizaveta sat quietly on the wagon with a stringed instrument strapped to her, head pointed upwards as her unfocused eyes gazed over the blue sky. What a strange sight to be travelling during the day, moving along as the sunlight breaks through clouds, no matter how far she was from her Caravan of Starseerers, their ways of life were on her mind.
Her attention would snap to the Older woman, realising she was being addressed by the stranger. The half-elf matched the kind stranger’s smile with a warm grin of her own, not only out of respect to the elder, for how she was raised by the ‘village’ that took her from an orphan to a proud Falstoner, but a genuine enjoyment of friendly company. Yelizaveta replied confidently. “I’m comin’ from Falstone, in the Faded Steppe. I’ve never been this far away, on my own.” The Half-Elf looked at her boots sheepishly, kicking her feet and fidgeting in place, looking back to the older woman when asked another question, remaining respectful throughout her blunt expressions. “Mainly helpin’ out my family back home with trade. ” She would dip her head towards the lute she had been holding close to her; the fear of a bump in the road would shatter the instrument, and her dreams were evident in her body language. “My siblings got it for me during the Grand Bazaar, it’s a little piece of them with me. Even though I think my Aunt would slap me up the head for slackin’ with a lute, aha.”
She smiled back at the Older lady as their conversation died down, her attention drifting back to the surrounding area. The fauna was so much different then the Savannah landscape she was raised in. Yelizaveta began to daydream of her new life, the anxieties of it being worth being so far from all she’s ever known for trade and to chase a dream of seeing mystery in the Spire.
