An interview with Eithna Primriver

After the rally was disrupted, many questions about Eithna Primrivers's campaign remained unanswered. I sat down with her on July 5th to answer some of them, and perhaps assuage some fears.

On Domestic Policy…

Rosella Maple: "Now, let's begin with Domestic Policy. What are your plans to enrich our dear town?"

Eithna Primriver: "Domestic policy… Well, we touched on infrastructure at the rally--The lighthouse, of course, being at the forefront of notice, especially with the... Well, explosive collapse. Reconstruction efforts have already begun, but We'll see to it that things move along smoothly. Of course, there are a few facets to rebuilding something like this. Our own specialty, the flow of resources--Lumber, stone, building materials and more overlooked resources--Will be our contribution. This goes for other infrastructure projects, as well--Our roads, and to name a more specific issue in them... The bridge at Albern's Crossing. It's something of a choke point for the flow of things.  The rest our domestic policy bleeds into foreign policy, in trade. I'm certain We can get to that in a moment."

On Military Policy…

Rosella Maple: “I see. That is a very thorough answer. What about military policy? What are your plans there?"

Eithna Primriver: "Our military policy has a more defensive than offensive focus--Proofing against outside threats. We don't doubt the resilience of the people of the Spire--Especially not after the recent victory up north by the Militia. This would involve further security of our most vulnerable assets, vital infrastructure and otherwise. We've been in the Spire for quite some time--Leigh, Pip, Thurlow, and Quincy were on the council when we arrived. We have lost all but Quincy, who has retired from this area indefinitely.  We've seen firsthand the duress and distress put on our system when our leadership is attacked. With our most recent set of threats looming--Particularly the encroachment of certain sea-faring factions--We cannot afford to lose anymore councilors. We'll see to it that their security matches the threats that they endure." She concludes once more.

On Foreign Policy…

Rosella Maple: "I see. Let's move on to foreign policy. What are your plans there?"

Eithna Primriver: "This is what our domestic policy ties into. The Southern Reach, in its current state, is a well of potential. Particularly in terms of resources. Already, those from the Valkian realm have arrived, trying to stake their claims where they can, in addition to... Other parties. I don't believe this will end anytime soon, but we can dampen it. By assessing and collecting our own resources, We can send them into the flow of the Spire--To be better utilized and more accessible to our artisans, ateliers and craftsmen, meaning less dependence on imported goods--Which can become quite costly--And better leverage in dealings with foreign bodies."

On the Fey…

Rosella Maple: "Thank you. Unfortunately, however, I do have to address the elephant in the room. What are your relations to the Fey, and how will you ensure that they stay out of Spire politics?"

Eithna Primriver: "Yes, the fey. There have been... Concerns. To tell you the truth, We'd like nothing to do with the fey. But something about this place draws them… We've encountered them several times. At no time have We sought them them out, or sought out a situation involving them, save one, being the Human Festival, for the purposes of observation and record-keeping. We know what We've lost to them. We have no outstanding debts. And We know all too well their methods of trickery, varying by the fey...  As I'm, mm, certain many others in this town can say. We know of a man who has foolishly traded on the behalf of others. One can't be wise to every trick. But we know enough to avoid what is most common--And guide those other of the circle away from such trappings. That is all.”

Closing Statements…

Rosella Maple: "I understand. Do you have any closing statements?"

Eithna Primriver: "I wish…The other candidates the best, regardless of differences."

Rosella Maple: “I see. Thank you for your time.”
