Beware the Northward Roads

A group of travelers reported they were ambushed by wolves on the road between Albern Crossing and The Spire, but the evidence gathered says there's something deeper at play. I ordered for a troop of six volunteers to help me solve this wolf problem for the sake of travelers and land trade. Those who arrived were Vouri, Atalsarai, Artorius, Elrik, Konrad, and Bracchus.

The troop ventured North towards Albern Crossing. Their task: to locate evidence of the supposed ambush. They would soon find the evidence they sought, a horse carcass dragged a ways off the road against a steep berm in the terrain. An examination of the wounds by the attached doctor, Konrad, would reveal something unexpected. There were numerous stab wounds interwoven with the expected wolf bites and scratches. Stab wounds inflicted before wolves had even gotten to the carcass. This is unnerving news.

This is to suggest the ambush the travelers reported was done by "wolves" was actually committed by armed individuals. Why travelers would lie about such a thing is unknown. The culprits undefined. The reporting duo of travelers also, yet to be relocated. If you seek any more defined details, speak to one of the six who were involved in the venture, I am but regurgitating the information they brought back to me. Is this intentional injection of misinformation, a misunderstanding, or a failed attempt at springing a trap on volunteering adventurers? I do not know, but any who stop to read this . . .
