Notice of Death

I regret to inform the town that Cassandra Brightwater has passed away 8th of Falltide, 1641. She was killed in an ambush, traveling near Albern's Crossing. Her body has been tended to and is being kept until arrangements can be made.

The notice was posted, sometimes, she was glad Medea had been teaching her to read. Other times, like now, she wished she wasn’t literate. 

As individuals gathered to read the notices, one hung behind the rest. Waiting for everyone to disperse. 

When they did, she stepped forward. Reading the three, but only truly caring about one. 

After staring at it for a moment, she was glad it was raining. A quiet thunk - a dull knife with a blue ribbon left behind next to the notice. 

There wasn’t a single cloud in the sky.
