Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

A solid, violet gaze flits over the older woman’s appearance, Adu’s brow soon furrowing ever slightly. She feels herself becoming hyper aware of how her frame dwarfs the other passengers, and how the horns upon her head only magnify her difference. She shifts uncomfortably.
And yet, the woman’s stare remains a scrutiny Adu has learned means either fear or a threat. In response, her hands clutch the family lantern in her lap, and its light would carve her weary expression even deeper into her face.
“A new home,” She answers carefully. “A safer one.”
Despite being several miles away by now, the very idea of leaving the Ashlands still feels beyond belief. Her clan, the Fireborne, had been all she ever knew. Has been all…
Adu observes as the older woman’s gaze falls to the child beside her, and her own glance drops in tandem.
…has been all her child has ever known.
Her grip on the lantern tightens again.
“My family and I have heard of some interesting stories about down south. Something about a whole town worth of elves just up and disappearing in that place they call the Spire.” She can’t fathom why she keeps going. After all, had it not been ingrained into her since birth to not trust those outside the clan? Maybe it's this woman’s expectant stare. Or perhaps it is an innate, desperate need to be understood that has her continuing on.
“Strange stories aside, If there is ever a time to start anew, it makes sense to do it during Vernus and in a fresh place, y’know? Let the old die so the new can grow… something like that.”
To Adu’s relief, the woman gives a slow nod, seemingly satisfied with what she has been given.
“May the Dragon’s flame light our way in the dark.” Adu prays before returning her gaze to the freckled sky above.

Character Name: Adumowe “Adu” Rubis
Character Race: Greatling and Fey-Touched
Character Age: 35
Brief Physical Description: Standing 7'6" ft tall, Adu has tawny skin dusted with freckles, and a head of red curls. Her horns and height point to her Greatling heritage, whereas her blackened finger tips and solid colored eyes point to her volcanic Fey-Touched heritage. Usually she can be found adorning gold and heavier fabrics, the latter from having lived in the Ashland’s more colder climates.
