This is the Expanded Lore forum. Here, you'll find a subforums associated with each of the major areas in Avalore: the Southern Reach, the Midlands, Ko'ram, the Faded Steppe, the Mist Isles, the Amafells, the Northern Kingdoms, the Ashlands, and any miscellaneous entries, too. The entries within will encompass any settlements, cultures, houses, and history relating to the respective regions, which can be viewed on the map. While the Compendium provides the basic information to get started, the need-to-know, here you can find more in-depth entries and get a more holistic view of all the world of Avalore has to offer!

What Can Be Posted Here?

This section is for players to post their approved lore, which has gone through the lore submission process. Unapproved lore will be deleted, with a request made to submit before reposting. To make a lore submission, simply open a lore ticket on our Discord, providing either an explanation of the submission or a document containing a writeup. After it has been approved, you will be given the green light to post here! 

How Should My Post Look?

While posts in the Compendium all follow a specific format, this forum, being a more communal hub, does not have a set format. However, we ask that posts are made easy to read with proper line breaks, capitalization, sections and headers, and that any relevant information be easily accessible. Keep in mind that other players (and potentially new players!) will be reading your post to learn about the lore, whether that's just out of curiosity or to use it as background for their character. 

Note! When you make your post, you can apply a specific tag, such as Settlement or House. However, if you edit your post, you will have to reapply the tag before clicking Submit, as the forums deselect the tag when you edit a post.

How Do Lore Submissions Work?

As explained earlier, a ticket must be made to start a lore submission. Typically, players write up a submission in a document (Google Docs, for example) and send it for review with some background or explanation about the submission. Lore Team will then review, discuss, and respond with comments such as any changes to make. Here are some guidelines for submissions:

• Language of the submission must be consistent with the lore on the forums. We use Canadian English.
• Longer submissions will take longer to review. Try and limit documents to 6 pages. Larger submissions are allowed, but may be requested to be trimmed or summarized for review.
• For readability, do not format text smaller than 11-pt font.
• Avoid direct, one-to-one copies of other lore - that is plagiarism!
• Inspiration from real-world cultures, places, or events is allowed, but should be limited to inspiration and not a direct translation. It must fit within the established lore.
• All submissions should follow Roleplay Conduct guidelines, meaning inappropriate topics will not be accepted.
• Your work should be your own - AI-generated work will not be accepted.
• Using images in your submission is encouraged! Where possible, link to the source so the artist can be credited if it is added on the forums.
