Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

"Me?" Tom would ask, thinking for a moment. He hadn't really thought about the why too much. "Well, I guess you can say I wanted a change of scenery, going over to the Southern Reach. You see, we're a warrior culture, where I'm from... Lots of bloodshed and whatnot. I came from one of the Northern Tribes, where the Winter is harsh, and the people are harsher." Tom would stretch a bit, and continues with his story. "I was more of a kind child, focusing on kindness more than brutality. And while I'm always ready for a good fight, I don't always want to... Fight, I mean." He'd sigh, staying silent for a minute, before looking towards the horizon. "That's what got me here. After I got exiled by my kin for my more... pacifistic ways, I just started to wander. That's why I have a pink stripe in my hair, a reminder of what I got to leave behind. Then I met this caravan, and here we are." Tom would chuckle lightly, looking back to the old lady. "I guess you can say Lady Luck had me in her sights that day. After all, I'm pretty sure it was luck that got me here, mostly." He yawns a bit, growing tired. "Think I'm gonna turn in for the night.... Have a good night, miss." And with that, Tom leans back against the side of the cart, slowly drifting to slumber.
