Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

Xavier leans away from the stranger; no need for closeness to answer that question. He looks out of the wagon at the passing sights as he thinks about the question. “To look for something new, I suppose, a change of scenery.” For even though he was young, he could never remain still, and as much as he loves and appreciates his home with the Greater Clans of Ko’ram, more specifically Clan Adarkhin. His people, who only wished to shove him into armour and keep his hands gripping weapons, but such is the way there, to protect the lesser clans under them. Not like he hated it, he was carrying a set of heavy armour and a shortsword with him right now - but he wanted to see more, meet new people, he was a sucker for stories, and he had heard them all back home; surely there must be more out here?
He wanted to travel to the Valkian Realm, which sounds so different from what he is used to, their structure of ruling, or maybe he can also experience the Valk culture, their ships and haggling of goods. Or perhaps he can learn more about the different fables, even though he stands firmly in the one he believes, the lady of the lake, quite fitting - but also predictable. However Xavier’s does not focus on the fact that possibly every knight follows this fable, but instead on what it means, what it represents… Chivalry. He wonders if it is practised differently in other places.
Xavier blinks and realises something, so he turns his gaze to the old lady who sits next to him, the first opportunity, “Do you have a favourite story to tell?”
