The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
The name Zachary by the way. I served the Odakhi clan back in Ko’ram, but once that winter began, I began to see the meaninglessness of it all. Why did we train and hone ourselves only to fight each other. I was one of the few Nue Sidhe of the Odakhi and seeing how little our differences changed us made me reconsider killing people no different than me over food. I couldn’t stomach what we did to those villages in Iria. It was a dark time in my early fifties but now I’m turning 60 soon and I’ve still felt like my life has been missing something. I knew that then too so I managed to escape from the clan with the help of an older friend of mine. I made it to a port and sailed away with a Valkian merchant ship. The coldness we were taught in the Odakhi clan left me bereft of purpose, and it's here I think even in my advanced age that I’ll finally find myself. Sorry, I don't mean to give you my whole life story you seem like a nice young lady who doesn't need someone spouting their darkest experiences when I'm sure you still have much to live yourself. How old are you? you don't look a day over 50 I say.
Zachary is a average heighted man 5,6. He is does not slouch and has very strong posture. He has a craggy old face and a full white beard the same length as the hair on his head. He wears tanish brown colors and carries himself purposefully.
