Hello, my name is Boox Stone, or Box, if you like to stay simple. I am just a regular, passionate roleplayer/hobby writer who has been scouring the wide web for literally anything semi-decent ever since the other server I frequented got gutted due to financial and other issues.

Anyway, beyond that, I am relatively relaxed, and I never really mean any harm. I try to stay aware of myself, and I hope to have a splendid stay here in Avalore.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any skins or any real experience with Figura or Minecraft building, so I don’t have anything to share that would have any real value.

In-Character

Read the following prompt:

The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats is a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and a variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.

“Nervous?”

You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sitting near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.

“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.

“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

At first, his initial reaction was just silence. He blankly stared at her, not out of malice, annoyance, or anything, more like a frightened deer in headlights. The question pranced in the air for a solid 13 seconds; his face was unmoving, his eyes not blinking once.

After a while, the kind woman started to feel a bit uncomfortable and began to question whether he could even understand what she was saying. Luckily, after a few more seconds, he talked in a very short and laconic way, simply saying “.....curiosity.” His gaze would then dart away from her, retreating to the ground as he scratched at the bony, scarred stubs where his horns would be.

It was obvious that he was very wary of her. It was only exemplified the longer her gaze was on him…he could feel her looking at him…as the silence irradiated once more, she quickly asked, “Oh? Please tell me more…even if I feel like I can tell what you’re going to say.” She chuckles slightly, “I kid I only kid.”

He sits there uncomfortably in his cramped little spot in the wagon, trying to avoid her gaze, yet he still grants her request to elaborate, so he explains to her, “I’m a w-wanderer…wandering tinkerer…I fix and create things or modify them…heard about the Reach while in Lirenzia at the Sudvalkia Region, when I was having a short talk with a client, as I was fixing their child’s toy.”

The Kind Lady nods while listening, “Ah, I see so you’re looking for work then no?” He nods solemnly, “...Indeed.” The Lady looks down for a minute. “Yes…just work…” She hesitates for a minute; he’s so on guard, he’s practically trying to disappear into the woodwork of the wagon at this rate. After a moment of thinking, she lets out a small sigh, “Forgive me for intruding but...” She leans in just by a tiny fraction, merely out of habit, yet he ever so slightly scooches away from her, not enough to notice but still substantial.

She clasps her hands together as she speaks, “I can't help but feel as though there's more; even the most common of travelers rarely endure the road to the Reach just for crowns. Especially not those who act as though they’re scared of their own shadow…no offense, dear.”

He sighs slightly,  “....none taken….” he begins to look out of the wagon before he quietly says, “I don’t like talking about myself too much…but you are…persistent” The old lady shrugs, “I get that a lot”, he sighs as his guard begins to loosen very slightly before he quietly whispers, “As I said, I’m just a general tinkerer, who’s from the Ashlands…and-”, the lady gently interrupts, “Wait, the Ashlands? You said you were a tinkerer, no? I would be lying if I said that I have seen many greatlings from the Ashlands who care for any level of tinkering.”

He nods quietly, “Mmm…indeed, I know it’s not a very typical occupation for someone of my blood, but it is my life that I have chosen, at least now you know why I travel so much…not much opportunity for someone of my… expertise in a wasteland full of tribal bands with an all-encompassing 'might makes right' dogma.”

The Lady lets out a small “Hmph” at the last part. “Surely that’s merely an overexaggeration." He looks out of the wagon into the lush forest. “Life is nothing but perspective…perhaps they’re not all like that, but from what I’ve seen…they may as well be….”

The Lady lifts an eyebrow. “Hm, well, is your perspective on things always so cynical?” She questioned.

“Mostly Yes,” he answered.

But then he suddenly adds, “Well…emphasis on the 'mostly' part…my perception is not always so black and white…I am fond of many of the people I have seen in my wanderings…for example, back to Lirenzia in the Sudvalkia Region, that place was very high-standard and quite inspiring…if I didn’t need to find more work, then I would have stayed longer, learned quite a bit about my own craft due to their libraries…I would have taken a visit to Accademia dei Saggi as well…”

“Why didn’t you visit the academy while you were still there then?” She questioned.

“Nerves….” he responded half-embarressed

The Lady nods understandingly, “Well….can’t say I blame you.”

He says nothing to that, not even a grunt; instead, he moves on, “Anything else you wish to ask? Or may I go back to my comforting silence?” He monotoned as though he was genuinely asking and not trying to be sarcastic or witty. The Lady scratches her chin for a moment.

“Well, I have two things, besides fleeing what sounds like your tribe’s seemingly tyrannical culture and-” He interrupts and attempts to counter, “I never said anything about my tribe in particular…” The Lady calmly agrees with him, “Yes, but you have to admit you made it pretty obvious that you were talking about your clan in particular, or perhaps I’m just really good at reading people, either way, it was fairly obvious to me.”

He blankly stares at her silently before looking away at the lush forest once more. She clears her throat before continuing, “But yes, as I was saying, besides fleeing what sounds like your tribe’s seemingly tyrannical way of life, and looking for crowns, is there anything else you are possibly looking for?”

He thinks for a few moments before just saying, “Obviously, to improve upon my craft and become better at what I do….but also simply to learn….knowledge….I wish to know as much as I can and understand as much as possible from learning about the collapse to even other cultures like stonerunners or the valks…so I can figure out a way….”

Finally! Something of true substance, she curiously asks, “Figure out a way to what?”

“So I can….so I can figure out…..” silence fills the wagon for a solid 10 seconds, she can see his eyes begin to wilt, his body begin hunching over, and his eyes begin to dull.

“I…I’m sorry….I wish not to elaborate further…f-forgive me….I have said too much,” he whispers melancholicly

She lets out a small “hm..” before going silent herself, after that the rest of the ride is relatively silent, with the atmosphere being thick with pang until finally they make it to their stop, Moni is the first to waggle himself out of the wagon and put his foot on bare ground, but before he could fully step foot on the dirt, he hears a gentle “wait” from the old lady.

He slowly turns his head toward her, waiting for her to speak. She clears her throat before saying, “May I ask my final question, please?” She tilts her head, pleading, in a monotoned voice, he says, “You may…”

The Lady then quickly points to her forehead, “Your horns…how did they get damaged? I assumed it had something to do with your occupation or perhaps a work accident?”

He looks at her silently, just staring neutrally.

She continues, “You’ve answered almost all my other questions, so I thought I might as well ask a riskier one since we may never see each other again anyway. So, is there a story, my dear?”

He thinks for a minute, looks her up and down as if analyzing her before promptly saying, “...No.” Before than promptly hop the wagon and walk away before she can say anything else.

Too Bad, she wasn’t expecting much of a story anyway. She just wanted to give him a small kick in his step, ain’t nothing wrong with that, right?

Compendium References: Ashlands, Sudvalkia (sub-mentions being Signoria di Lirenzia and Accademia dei Saggi), Crowns, stonerunners, and valks (those three being brief mentions)

[From my research/what I read, I had to reference two of the references in-depth (which were the Ashlands and Sudvalkia), and I assume the last one can be a free brief mention, but if I got this twisted, please let me know]

Character Name: Moniith (Moni for short, and he has no surname due to exilation/tribelessness)

Character Race: Greatling Fireborne (Exiled)

Character Age: 22

Brief Physical Description: Moni is around 7’5ft tall. He has ashened (burned) horns that seem to be partially grown back, but are scarred and deformed. They are still in the process of returning to form. He has a fairly lean, yet naturally muscular body. His skin tone is much fairer than most fireborne from the Ashlands. However, he has scorch-like gradients on his hands. His complexion appears messy and blotchy.

His clothes are nothing to gawk at. They are more substance over style, often covering almost his entire body.
