The rhythmic clattering of hooves is a marching drum for the small band of pioneers and the variety of people among whom you have found yourself, crammed into a wobbly wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch all around you. The hum of excited chatter is a muffled murmur in your ears as your mind drifts back to your former life and what brought you here, to new lands.

You blink, returning to the present moment. A kind, older woman sitting nearby smiles warmly, her eyes crinkling.
