Are you at least 18 years old?: yes!

Have you read the rules? (Link): Yes yes yes joyus

(Optional) How did you hear about Avalore?: checking out reddit for a roleplay discord server :)

(Max. 1) Were you referred by someone? If so, please provide their in-game username: nope :D, public link

(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): I've been really into DnD and other ttrpg systems for about four years now, and roleplay itself a little longer. Aside from that I enjoy voice acting and drawing., and I figure its fitting to put old art of the character I'm planning to play here;

In-Character

Read the following prompt:

The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.

“Nervous?”

You blink(or would if you could in this case), returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.

“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.

“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

How do you respond (in character)(250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium.  Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

his fluffy ear flicked as a sign of him thinking to herself, perhaps he didn't have an answer ready, or perhaps his wandering has just become so natural- he didn't need a reason or excuse anymore.. in all honesty, he's given up on finding a "cure" for the fey-like curse upon her eyes., not that he doesn't miss the white sea of the Amafell mountains, but he has been finding great joy in living without the sight he once craved.- and returning to his tribe after all these years to tell his people he sees by 'blind faith' in something other than the constellations may not be a conversation he's 'looking' forward to.
adjusting his sitting position and moving his cape onto his lap, he spoke calmly,

"why,.- nervous?., Well. I wouldn't say nervous.., no., not nervous., but something adjacent- Travel to anywhere new will always be a joy., and what I am looking forward to the most will be the new stories on the way..", he smiled warmly despite the slight mystery his eyes gave to his usual expressions. "..Although maybe that wish is me being a little homesick", he said, loosing a little of the warmth, but in a joking and fatigued way. He's been wandering for years-, leaving quite early and tripping over his own feet and jagged rocks on his self given quest to become useful beyond combat and strength, since when he was younger he was convinced he needed to prove something or get rid of the cursed horns of his. Especially since that's the kind of story he was told every Frostfade or Zodiac festival-Which is now an ideal he's quite obviously greatly abandoned- growing into the shoes of his fathers side of the family(The Byrn),. Despite being quite a towering figure, even for a Greatling,- His frame is like one of a shepherd, and one that's far more peaceful and thin than the roughness of usual Stonerunners.

Once again, his ear flicked as the wagons wheels squeaked on., if he had eyes for it, he'd likely be enjoying the view- and even if the birds chirping and breeze around whistling gently was enough for him, there was something more beautiful.

He faced his ear to the aged woman in front of him, his calm smile returning., "But while we wait,- you mentioned you remember your first time coming to the reach, I'd be glad to know how what made it so memorable if you don;t mind..,"

Character Name: Chirin Harrow (he/she)

Character Race: Fey-Touched Greatling

Character Age: he/she himself doesn't know, (but probably 30s-50s, still fairly young for a greatling)

Brief Physical Description: Tall with dark skin and very short dark grey fur all across the usual patterns of the body, aside from the longer white hair on his head, similar to a mountain goat or sheep., Most notably of course, Is the placement of his horns- which are cursed to grow through where he would have eyes.(he has a smaller pair on the back of his head as well)

Hello! My name is Blinx, and I'll be handling your whitelist application.

I have a few notes on Chirin's design and lore. While creativity is encouraged in the design process, for whitelisting especially we ask players abide by what is written on the Compendium. I'm unsure if the mention of a 'curse' is meant to be his heritage as half Fey-Touched or a separate incident that's affected him after birth, but children like him would have to have a parent who is Fey-Touched and a second who is not. If the curse referenced is intended to be something else, I'd recommend removing it from the application and making a Lore Ticket in the Discord once approved so our team could review it. For the time being:

  • Greatlings and Fey-Touched do not have fur, but those of specific heritages can have patches of scales or feathers!
  • Greatling horns generally only come in one set of two growing from each temple. However, two tips on one horn (such as in pronghorns) would be fine.
  • Fey-Touched originate from contact with Fey in the earliest stages of life, including during conception or in the womb. These children are always Fey-Touched, and it's only their children who can be half. Fey-Cursed, Fey-Touched, or Fey-Blessed are names that reflect perspectives on that kind of origin and experience, but beyond the bodily changes outlined on the Compendium page Fey-Touched are not cursed to suffer any additional misfortune or bodily alteration.

If you have any questions before making edits or revisions, you're welcome to ask here or in our Discord.

Hello! As it's approaching a week since my last response with no word, if I don't hear back within a few days I will have to deny the application for inactivity. Let me know if you're still working on this!

Ive been busy and thinking of how to change up his lore! I am still here no worries!

Good to know! Feel free to take your time, then.

Ok so due to be accepted into a professional art mentorship its probably better not to go starting other projects rn! ill probably apply some other time- however not right now! thank you for your patience tho, sorry about that.

Understood. I'll be marking the application as rejected for our records, but this is not a strike or a warning! You're welcome to re-apply whenever, if you'd like.

Good luck!
