The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

"Hm?" The Fey-Cursed returns the smile, while rummaging for something in his hat. "Oh, I guess I am a little, but more excited than anything else! I've been...well, I've been around the world, except for the Reach. It was hard, growing up with just me an' my mum." His eyes fall for a second as his smile falters. "We left an Ashborne camp. She didn't want to raise a kid around that crowd, much to me dad’s dismay. Up north’s no place for two on their own, but we made do. I grew up in a cave. Didn’t want the Ashborne, an’ the Fireborne wouldn’t want me. I don't remember much, honestly. One thing's clear in my mind though, that night at a makeshift dragon skull that we made with some timber and ash. There I was, staring into the candle atop the shrine, and thought about the dragon it stood for. The freedom it must’ve had. Big ol’ wings to fly anywhere.” He smoothes his burnt orange hair and puts his hat back on. “So, when I turned eighteen, I decided to leave, with my mum’s blessing of course. I snuck on some adventurer’s ship as it was leaving, and went wherever it did. Some time later, I wound up dizzy an’ dazed in Port Abmanyo. The Coast was a wonderful place, and the weather wasn’t too unlike what I was used to. I actually think I saw one of the sirens, but that's neither here nor there." He clears his throat. “After that, I bounced around here or there, picking up useful tricks an’ such. Now, I’m headed t’ the one place I ain’t been. Say…what was your name again?”
