Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

“Why’d I come to the Reach?” The Greatling leans back inside the cart, tan skin glistening with light bits of sweat from the sun. “A good mix of reasons, but the biggest one? Finally getting out from under the nose of my family!” She says, a hearty laugh follows behind, echoing through the plains. “Nah, but to be real, I love my family. But getting to explore is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I’m sure trying to come back after all this to take over for my mom I’m sure gonna be made a bit harder, them elders I’m sure will be pissy. But a good matriarch is one who knows a lot, ain't she? And getting to explore will certainly let me learn. I’m sure I’ll be able to convince em later. Wow them with my ‘knowledge of the world’ ” She says with jazz hands to help emphasize the ‘wonder’.
The Greatling keeps a large smile on her face as she speaks. She's surprisingly friendly despite her large size and gruff voice. “As for why the Reach specifically, to be honest, it wasn’t my first choice. I’d been traveling a good bit beforehand, but I met some guy. Pretty small, black skin. Ain’t give me his name, but talked with pretty damn fancy words. Talkin’ about some big ol mysterious tower that’d be worth checkin’ out. Some creatures off to the ocean to the west that people only hear stories of. But the main thing that caught my interest.” And as she says this she leans in a bit, her voice lowering to a hush. “I was interested in them birds he told me ‘bout. Heard they look after people traveling, maybe even offerin’ a bit of their power. Now that certainly called my attention.” She leans back with a grin voiced raised once more.. “Figured if I’m gonna be out here exploring, I might as well try to catch their sights. And when I made that decision, that night I saw a shooting star streak across the sky. At that point, I knew there wasn’t no one who could stop me from followin’ this path. And now, here we are.”
