In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The sound of clinking glasses and idle chatter welcome you in as you find yourself stepping into The Full Cask. An older man with a full mustache and warm smile beckons you over to the bar he's tending. His gazes washes over you, a glint of some knowing look shining in his eyes. As you sit, his voice rumbles out:
"Hello there stranger! What can I get for you?"
After you order, he continues to make small talk. "You must be a newcomer. I'm Maarten, glad to meet you." He says with a certain kindness in his tone.
"Tell me, what brings you to the Spire?"
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

Your Response:
As Daphne settled down the smell of the Inn seemed to intensify, quite eerie, fighting the urge to pinch her nose.
She was used to a vast array of smells but this was something else. She froze for a moment as she noticed Maarten's idle smile.
Responding with a slight smile, nodding. Flinching, realizing that she was asked a question.
“I am an Herbalist! I come to seek new herbs in promise to find something more exotic. My upbringing has been rooted in the act of collecting and mixing herbs, coming from a family of Valkian merchants, the smell was detrimental to how well the product fare on the market."
She explained, clasping her hands around the giant mug
“Most of our trades rather lead us up north, which is quite sparse, when it comes to specialized herbs. One can picture the medical inclined substances, being quite popular given the frequent conflicts, aswell as taking advantage of the fact that only a handful of Valkian merchants would dare to trade with their enemy.
Win the horse or lose the saddle! They always used to say. ”
She said in a almost melodic manner, having heard this proverb far too often. A smell rose from beneath, She had ordered a tea, looking at a murky substance with leafs floating slightly beneath an iridescent film, classifying it as tea would almost be false advertisement.
"This wouldn’t sell well on the market. "
She muttered with no restraint, Maarten responded with convulsive laughter, Daphne tried to join him with a slight chuckle.
“I suppose that is my fault to request something so particular, the Albert Crossing served something quite similar. I was expecting it to be more promising judging by the number of merchants passing through, at least one of them must’ve brought something of use.”
*She said using a small twig to stir the contents inside the mug. Reaching for a small bag sealed with a string, its smell was prominent through the cloth. *
“Mint!”
She exclaimed with a wide smile, placing it next to the crug along with a few shining golden coins, each displaying a crown. Holding onto one, worn and not as shiny as the others, flipping it up with her thumb, catching the coin in the air
“I suppose that is another reason why I came here. The Spire has left quite a word amongst merchants, improving my craft maybe even opening my own apothecary would be something I’d be quite fond of.”
she said as the coin glid through her fingers
“And you will know where to find me.”
She winked, the bag had her name written on it, Daphne Clenfall serving as an equivalent of a modern business card.
She jumped out of the stool with a confident smile. One might think that setup was planned from the very beginning.
Her landing shook the counter, throwing the mug over the edge, the liquid accompanied by a hissing sound as it spread onto her leather boots.
“Aghh-! Acid! I mean- Sorry! So Sorry!”
screamed out, violently shaking the murky substance off her feet.
