Read the following prompt:

The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.

“Nervous?”

You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.

“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.

“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

Estrey leans back in her seat and flashes a wry smile back towards the old woman. “The same reason we’re all here, isn’t it?” The bangles of jewelry adorning her arms clink against one another as she speaks. “I’ve been up and down the Midlands tenfold by the time I turned twelve.” Estrey rests her elbow on the side of the wagon, but keeps a curious eye on the older woman. “Now that I’m grown, it’s about time I see what fortunes the Reach has to offer.”

Her gaze briefly darts across her other traveling companions before landing on the old woman once more. “You can’t honestly tell me adventure is the only ambition people have these days.” She lets out a low whistle before leaning in close. “Trust me, coin is what makes the world go ‘round.” She slips off one of her bangles and holds it up for the older woman to see. “Speaking of, one of these would look lovely on you… wouldn’t you like to look all done up for your new life in the Reach?”
