Read the following prompt:
The sound of clinking glasses and idle chatter welcome you in as you find yourself stepping into The Full Cask. An older man with a full mustache and warm smile beckons you over to the bar he's tending. His gazes washes over you, a glint of some knowing look shining in his eyes. As you sit, his voice rumbles out:
"Hello there stranger! What can I get for you?"
After you order, he continues to make small talk. "You must be a newcomer. I'm Maarten, glad to meet you." He says with a certain kindness in his tone.
"Tell me, what brings you to the Spire?"
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Your Response:
"Oh– er, your cheapest ale, please," Siona requests, taking a seat at the counter. She rummages through her pockets and her bag, fingers poking through holes at the bottom. "Maybe half an ale, if you are willing to charge half? I am afraid I do not have much coin on me left."
Regardless of his answer, she slid over two measly coin. It was almost all she had left at the end of a long journey.
"Well met, Maarten. Thank you for the drink." She lifted the tankard presented in front of her, drinking deeply despite how little liquid there was. Once she finished, she slammed the tankard onto the surface of the bar, letting out a loud and satisfying sigh. That hit the spot.
“Do you charge for water?” she asks, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. As she watched Maarten work, she continued.
“I came here from Rulan,” she said, speaking just loudly enough over the of the bustling tavern. “Opportunity dried up there – did you know that people can be so rude to you as soon as they find out you live just across the water? It’s like they don’t care about anything outside their precious city.”
She shook her head in abject disappointment.
“All these city-folk think they’re so special, learning from these ‘prestigious academies’. What was it? Royal Marzipan? Something like that. Well, my master has always taught me that no amount of book-reading will ever triumph over getting in the dirt yourself and learning!”
She sat a little straighter, proud of her Walljack upbringing.
“Since they decided to be content in their own little bubble, I decided to head south to Albern’s Crossing. But, to answer your question… I’m here to just find a better life for myself. For my family. They weren’t able to support me, but they wanted me to do well. So…” She looked a little sheepish.
“Have any jobs for me, bartender?”

Brief Physical Description: Siona stands at 5’6. She keeps her dark hair kept neatly in a long braid most days – a tradition from her family and the village nearby. She possesses a darker complexion, in part due to her time outside, but her eyes shine brightly with determination. She possesses slightly pointed ears, and seems to be missing a finger on her left hand.
