In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The sound of clinking glasses and idle chatter welcome you in as you find yourself stepping into The Full Cask. An older man with a full mustache and warm smile beckons you over to the bar he's tending. His gazes washes over you, a glint of some knowing look shining in his eyes. As you sit, his voice rumbles out:
"Hello there stranger! What can I get for you?"
After you order, he continues to make small talk. "You must be a newcomer. I'm Maarten, glad to meet you." He says with a certain kindness in his tone.
"Tell me, what brings you to the Spire?"
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
Usage of AI to generate, modify or translate the writing on your application will result in denial of your whitelist. There will be no chance to re-apply afterwards.
Your Response: Celyne took a sip of her drink, unsure of how to respond, or how much to share. Maarten seemed nice enough, but then again she wasn't sure how good of a judge of character she was. Then again, if anyone could get her started on the right track, an innkeeper should be able to point her in the right direction at the very least. "To tell you the truth I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here. I woke up near here in an abandoned broken down wagon about a week ago, and the last thing I remember before that was being at a harvest festival with my family in Rulan, we worked on a vineyard owned by the Silverblooms though we ourselves weren't a family of much importance. We'd had a particularly good season that year." Celyne looked down at herself, rubbing her left arm subconsciously before continuing. "That was when I was around 14 years old, about 20 years or so ago I understand. I remember very little of my time in Rulan, and I remember even less of the time since, certainly not how I came to be so far south of The Wall. To tell you the truth my body remembers more than I do, how to write, how to wield a blade, there are some things about the world I know but I don't know how I know them if that makes any sense. But I know nothing of myself from the past years. I was always told as a child never to stray south of it because of the supposed dangers that lurked beyond its borders, even after the disappearance of the Aedall, and now I find myself far on the side I was told never to go to. I do remember how the fields glowed in the light of the festival that night though, and that the food was wonderful. I'm Celyne by the way, thank you for the drink, and I guess what brings me here is trying to find out who I am, and find someone who can help me. Do you know if there's anyone around with knowledge of magic, curses, diseases or other such afflictions?" She once again subconsciously rubbed her left arm, an odd look in her solid purple eyes.
