Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

The man looks up from his lap and meets the old woman's gaze. The moment passes quickly, however, and his eyes fall once more. "Lookin' for a fresh start," he mutters, capping his words off with an exasperated sigh. Though his first instinct is to clam up, further thought brings him to the conclusion that little harm can come from sharing a bit of his tale. "Used to be a sailor, but... it's time to move on." He pauses for a moment, wiping a cold sweat from his brow with the back of his hand. "Sailed outta Sirensong, and all was well and good—'til we ran headfirst into a storm. Was like the Siren herself wanted us wiped off the map. Long and short of it, we hit a wave, way too big to ride over. Now I'm here. The others... not so lucky."
With his tale of woe out of his system, he can't help but chuckle a bit to himself at the absurdity of it. "Sorry," he says to the old woman. "Don't mean to ramble. So, uh... What's your story?"

Character Age: 31 years old
Brief Physical Description: Jaka stands 5'11", his slightly above average height accentuated by an athletic build. He keeps a head of short dark hair matched by a well groomed mustache and goatee below. His skin is naturally on the fair side, though years of seafaring have left him with a slight tan. Perhaps his most striking feature is a naturally strong brow, lending itself to a particularly intense gaze that clashes with the Mistan's typically easygoing demeanor.
