(Optional) Were you referred by someone? If so, who: Doc, vaguely 👀

(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): Heyo, I'm Connor and i've been in the mcrp / tabletop roleplay community for a looooong time. I'm fresh off a hiatus from any sort of RP and after a poor experience else where I was fortunate to find out about Avalore through some old friends. I'm an animator, artist, builder, skinner, plugin technician - you name it.

In-Character

Read the following prompt:

The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.

“Nervous?”

You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.

“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.

“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

How do you respond (in character)(150 words minimum - please make sure to include some references to our lore in your response!)

Victor wipes a hand down his face, weary expression returning to the visage of the formerly slack-jawed daydreaming 'detective'. The crinkles of sun scarred skin around his eyes find their usual folds as he briefly looks over the old woman before finally responding to her in his typical droning tone, weaving a monologue together out of nothing if only to placate the inquisitive eyes and ears nearby to the conversation at hand.

"Heard about a mystery too tough for any of the local two-bits to crack past The Wall. Made my way in the Valks for long enough to know if a tale is being spun or if its the real deal - sounded like this one might need some more experienced eyes to take a look. Lots of young folk get caught up in these things y'know - running off thinking its adventure they're going to find rather than a knife at their back the second they figure out what someone else was too lazy t' sort through themselves.

Avoided Aedall like it was plagued as long as I could cause of that, stuck to the jobs from faces I knew, but... Got an offer from an old - we'll call him a friend for the sake of not getting side tracked - someone'd been asking for information on their relatives that disappeared after heading south not long after folk started trying to reclaim the Reach. Went off with some crew looking for Arsa Sidhe relics before any of the bigger crews made moves to claim the place for themselves and never came back. Apparently no trace of them now but when there's coins being offered in the Valk you take your chance no matter how tight the gamble might seem."

Victor lets out a heavy sight, fingers on his right hand twitching idly from one too many brawls in his youth as a night guard having fried the nerves long ago. No drink of gold to fill it, he clasped his knee hard to make the twinging pain stop for now. He looked out of place at best among the others, packed light like this was all going to be over in a long weekend and then he'd be back in a wagon just like this rickety one, albeit heading in the opposite direction. He scanned across the others around him while the old woman seemed to unravel his needless verbal mess that amount to 'missing persons case', seeing the same eager looks on some that he'd grown to recognise as probable future cases, and in others the slightly sunken eyes, faint knuckle scars and roughed up leather boots of the typical ne'er-do-wells. Thieves maybe, killers likely - off to find a place where the law were less carved into stone and more written in mud soon to be buried under fresh horse tracks.

"Sun ain't gonna be shining on me down here..."

Character Name: Victor Fletch, formerly known as Victor 'the Eye' in the Valks

Character Race: Human

Character Age: 34

Brief Physical Description: Garbed in a long leather coat that seemed more slept in than most beds, Victor is a weathered human of average height with sun scarred pale olive skin and a mess of short brown hair, cropped seemingly by a dull pair of shears around the back and sides given its uneven and unkempt appearance. Pale grey irises are spotted with coppery dots and striations from a mix of bad habits and hard living, but keen none the less with a semi-permanent crease to his brow keeping them narrowed slightly. He looks to barely keep himself at 'average' otherwise - bony calloused knuckles showing a thinness to him where his heavy clothing otherwise keeps it hidden, along with gaunt cheeks and lips splitting with ease when the weather is chillier. A wiry tangle of facial hair graces his face, somewhat better kept than the rest of his appearance as if hinging on charisma to be on his side in a pinch, though his most notable feature is his oddly adapted battered steel rerebrace and vambrace on his right arm acting as a makeshift support for his heavily scarred elbow with a simple circular couter acting as a hinge.
