Are you at least 18 years old?: Yes
Have you read the rules?: Yes
(Optional) Were you referred by someone? If so, who: No but I found out about this specific server through the comments on Redlyne's video
(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): My first ever proper Minecraft RP but have joined many events from YouTubers with light RP elements (e.g. RyanNotBrian, Marcusk, etc.) so understand the basics (the dice rolling in Minecraft is new though!)
Played some DnD in real life though so understand what immersing yourself into the setting is. I collect and paint Warhammer 40K miniatures as well as play video games, currently a university student studying Marine Biology.
In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium.)
I peer out of the cracks between the planks of the wagon contemplating the question and then looks back at the old lady, hesitant to reveal my goals but trusting enough to overcome this feeling "I was always fascinated by the Great Disappearance and I seek to find out what happened to the Aedall all those years ago to try and see if it might happen to us and if so, how to avoid it.". The old lady nods without giving much away and says "It is a great mystery indeed, but what caused you to start down this path anyway?". I become even more unwilling to give this information away to a stranger but do it nonetheless trying to keep it vague on purpose "I oft heard rumors of the Aedall and their fierce defense of the Reach back in Fallstone where I was born but as an unambitious nation nobody really cared for the Aedall. As an avid fan of all histories regardless of its origin, it intrigued me but knowing that I could never meet them in person without the encounter most likely turning sour I resigned myself to what little I could find left on them based on old texts from the time of the Arsa Sidhe before the collapse. So when I heard the news from the Walljacks that the Reach had seemingly been abandoned by the Aedall without any trace of where they went, I was eager to set off and find out more about them and possibly how and why they disappeared despite this being very out of character for a Falstoner but I was always more adventurous than my kin; as are most humans born under the Falstone banner compared to the Fey-Touched. I decided although Aedall themselves are gone, their ruins still stand as ghosts of the past that are just asking to have their secrets uncovered. That's why I am so set on coming here." The old lady nods and chuckles before speaking "I remember when I was as determined and full of life as you, tis' a noble goal indeed and having an answer to it would indeed settle some of our minds as well as help us try and
avoid it if it were to happen again, or at least be prepared for it.".
We go back to our silence as we admire our surroundings when the lady notices my partially covered left arm with some distinct marks down it. She goes to say something then hesitates, I recognize the look on her face and speak for her "That's my burn mark, had it since I was a teenager, we were out on one of the isolated fields towards the Northern edges of the Steppe harvesting crops when suddenly we were ambushed by raiders who must have been in the area at the time, either they were starving or protecting what they considered their territory, regardless, we were taken completely by surprise and had to rapidly mount a defense using farming tools and the few weapons we had brought with us for protection. As expected, we did not stand much of a chance considering the situation and us being tired from a hard day's work. Many of us did not survive but eventually the raiders pulled back, satisfied with their haul but not after greatly reducing our number and permanently scarring me. We were much more cautious in future when working in the far-out fields carrying many more weapons with us in case the raiders struck again but they never did. Another one of the great mysteries that has perplexed me for several years.". Out of breath from talking so much, I lean back into the cart and look up at the old lady to see her reaction, she mirrors my action and answers "how curious, I hope it doesn't affect your daily activities much and that those raiders are found and brought to justice." I reply to her sympathy with a smile and say "Eh, it doesn't affect my skills as much as you'd think but it does hurt
if touched too forcefully, excessively used in a short period of time or exposed to sunlight for too long." I pause, "but it was not a normal burn, it was magically inflicted, one of the raiders was a tellurgist and was the main reason the raiders won the encounter. But they fell back just like the others once they had pillaged and killed enough of us, I hate to see how the burn would react when exposed to a large amount of arcane energy.". She raises her head in thought, sits up and replies "How odd, raiders aren't widely known to use magic so whoever this was, there must have been more to those raiders than just your atypical gang of ruffians." She pauses "But maybe it's different over in Falstone" she says dismissively before resuming her casual lent-back position in the cart. As we are about to continue our conversation, we both hear the cart-master shout back to us "We're here!" as the cart rattles to a halt as the horse trotting slows to a standstill. I thank the old lady for her time, she nods and wishes me farewell before I step out the back of the wagon enthusiastically, blinded by the sunlight - let the adventure begin.
