To the Citizens of the Spire,
I apologize that I am unable to talk in person. As many of you, I work, day in and day out.
But today, I write to you all with a vision. A vision where power is no longer locked away behind closed doors to only a select few, but instead- flows back into you. The people. My campaign, ‘power to the people’, it not just wordage, it is not just a promise; it is a commitment to building a future where every single one of you holds a greater role in shaping the Spire.
If elected as your councilor, I pledge to establish a new structure of governance—one that empowers the people to govern alongside their Councilors:
Proposed Positions for the People
Governor of State:
A role for diplomacy, representing the Spire and the Reach and ensuring our voice is heard beyond our borders.
Master of Laws:
A panel of three impartial judges, chosen for their wisdom and expertise, to preside over trials. This will end the outdated practice of leaving justice in the hands of the guards and place it with those qualified to serve.
Master of Coin:
Accountants and auditors, elected to oversee taxes and ensure fairness and transparency in the Spire’s finances.
Order of Commons:
A system for knights to officially affiliate themselves with either a noble house or to the people. This strengthens our unity and allows knights to serve as protectors of the Spire and of all.
Generals of the Capital:
Leaders to form and command a militia for the defense of our Spire, prepared to protect us in times of conflict.
Merchants Order:
An organized council for the heads of the hospital, garden, library, militia, orphanage, and all businesses to govern commerce, labor, and the infrastructure vital to our prosperity.
A Judiciary for the People
We must move beyond the days of justice being wielded arbitrarily. I promise to push for laws that clearly define the rights and responsibilities of all citizens. Cases will no longer be judged by guards but by the Masters of Laws—ensuring fairness and removing bias.
On War and the Threat of the Finns
The flags of war are blowing in the air, more than what we may even see. The Finns have made their ambitions clear through their power plays, and the Duchess, with her false title of "protector," seeks to encroach upon our independence. We cannot afford to be complacent.
I promise to prepare the Spire for the challenges ahead by organizing the Generals of the Capital and strengthening our militia. The people of the Spire will stand united and strong, prepared to defend our freedom from them.
To the Finns, to the Duchess, or any informants who may be listening:
"Know this—failure is not an option. The Spire will not fold its hands into your power plays. We are a free people, and we will remain a free people. The Spire will endure. We will thrive. And we will protect what is ours."
