Criers call through the town, postings made wherever available; there's to be a race!
A group of elderly Spire residents (yes, they exist,) recognized that morale in the town is, to put it politely, utter garbage.
They've organized a race through the Spire and its surroundings in an attempt to raise the spirits of the townsfolk!
The planned route starts next to the apothecary, goes out around the seafront, then comes back in through the northern gate. The finish line is at the arch adjacent to the apothecary. On the day of the race, townsfolk will be standing along the route to direct the runners.
Given that this is a citizen-organized initiative, the rewards don't include crowns; however, there will be medals for first and second place, and a conciliatory bouquet for third.
COMBAT - None
DURATION - y'all i genuinely don't know for this one. 1 hour? hopefully? maybe 2.
THEME - Racing
REWARDS - dependent on placing in the race
PLAYERS - I'm going to have 5 racers! I think it'd be too much to keep track of if I went with more than that, but people are allowed (and encouraged) to come watch the race!
SCHEDULING
This is scheduled for December the 12th, 8pm EST.
It will start in the intersection next to the apothecary.
OOC INFORMATION
This is where I'm going to outline the route and list the rules for the race. I will be going over each 'obstacle' in greater detail during the race,
but read this if you want a base understanding of how the race is going to be run.
There will be five 'stages' to the race, each demarcated with differently coloured arrows (see route map below.) The first and fifth stage will be based primarily on movement speed; the second, third, and fourth stages will be based primarily on skill checks. Initial placing will be established by stage one, and adjusted based on fumbles, failures, mixed successes, successes, and critical successes.
Each of the obstacles in stages two through four will be able to be cleared with either Acrobatics or Athletics; if you're a runner and have a creative way you want to try and clear an obstacle, let me know!
Every stage ends with a Fortitude check; this adjusts placing at the end of each stage, including stage one.
