Minecraft Username: Waffleyheart
Are you at least 18 years old?: Yes
Have you read the rules? (Link): Yes
(Optional) Were you referred by someone? If so, who: No, found the server mentioned in a youtube comment
(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): Hello, I'm Waffleheart, typically abbreviated to just Waffle. I'm not an artist or anything, but I've gotten pretty decent at writing prompts, short stories, backgrounds, poetry, and even some songwriting due to my experience as a roleplayer in other video games and tabletop games like DnD, as both a player and a DM. I'm a bit new to stuff with an actual dedicated forum, but I've always enjoyed deep diving into the lore of a world, and have already read through most of the compendium for Avalore. I'm excited to get back into RP and contribute to the story of this place.

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
Percival blinks again, and then his characteristic smile returns, answering in falsified composure, "Chasing new opportunities, as I imagine most who travel this road are." A half truth, the Reach was also conveniently far away from the people he owed debts to, and the county that had a warrant for his arrest. "I made a mistake, and there's little else left for me back in the Midlands." A wholesale lie. There was a family that hadn't seen him in 2 years, and probably wouldn't for many more. There was The Sunset Maiden, the merchant ship he'd sailed on for the past four years, with a crew that he loved and a captain who had betrayed him. There was the relic he'd been smuggling in his personal luggage, lying at the bottom of Mariza's port. And how could he forget the several people that wanted him dead. "My uncle gave me some money and got me on my way. And now I'm here, wondering what the next chapter of life is going to look like, and what kind of work I can find out here." It was lucky his uncle knew a Walljack who could guide him through the swamps once he got south of the Wall. He had stayed with them for a couple weeks, and in that time had given them tips on trading with certain Valkian merchants and captains, and had told them stories of his adventures sailing to the Mist Isles. He decided not to recite those stories to this old lady, he wasn't really supposed to be in this caravan after all, and didn't need the attention. He pivoted the conversation back to her, employing a trick he'd learned to mimic a charismatic aura despite any lack one might have: simply let the other person talk. He almost used his first name, but decided to start using his second one, just in case someone recognized him. "Oh, but I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Marcel. What's yours? And since I answered your question, what do you mean by 'first time?' Surely there's a story there..."
