Hello, I'm proddino or Proddy, and I've been involved with MCRP on and off for 12+ years on a variety of different servers as well as dabbling in other roleplay mediums such as Dungeon and Dragons and PBP forum RPGS. I'm an English and Creative Writing student currently at university and I'm hugely invested in low-fantasy universes such as ASOIAF and The Witcher. I also like anime/manga like Berserk, Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga and Vagabond and I spend most of my downtime these days playing grand-strategy map games like Crusader Kings 3 and Europa Universalis IV.

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
"Not one bit." Arthur's response came firm and headstrong, gauntleted hands pressed together upon his lap and his broad shoulders pressed inward to allow the enfeebled old woman beside him some room. He was no stranger to the wilds, not at this point in his life. Where once he'd scantly be able to recall a time that he left the cloistered walls and the gilded cobblestone streets of Mariza, the few years he'd spent on the road in exile had hardened him to the perils of the frontier. It had been a lonely, aloof couple of years spent in uncertain solitude. The only company he'd seen on these winding roads was that of roving mercenary bands and drifting scholars, when and where they'd allow him to share their campfire.
"I ain't no stranger to these roads." The former Red Fist's ironclad fingertips momentarily brushed along the bristling hairs of his full beard. He was in desperate need of a shave, he knew it. But that'd have to wait until he reached his destination. For now, there was still another hundred or more miles between there and him. With luck, he'd be able to hitch along with this travelling band of itinerants for a time longer.
"Been ridin' along 'em for, well... as long as I can remember now. I'm headed for The Spire, was hopin' to find work there. I'm a sellsword, y'see - but not the unscrupulous kind. I've got a code I try to stick by. I won't rob or kill someone for you unless they deserve it. And I don't get involved in things where women and children are likely to get hurt, that's my one golden rule above all else. Just tryin' to make an honest livin', that's all. See myself through from one day to the next." A brief sigh escaped the mercenaries lips, a glance shot around at the crestfallen valleys and luscious green plains that marked their entrance into the region of the Southern Reach. It was a tiring old life, constantly on the move from one place to the next, but what else was there for him?
"It's a mighty shame what happened to them Aedall." The swordsman remarked, though not absentmindedly - he wasn't just a thick-headed brute, though many would take him for one at first glance. The symbol of his family was the bull, after all, stubborn and reckless. He could certainly be stubborn and reckless in equal measure, but life as a sword for hire taught him a thing or two about prying for information where it was neccessary. Gut intuition told him this old stranger was familiar with this part of the world, and he intended to press for any of that wisdom she might be willing to share.
"I'm sure there's a fair few folk interested in gettin' to the bottom of what the previous inhabitants were usin' that tower for. It can be a dangerous game, knowledge huntin'. And danger requires a good sword-arm for protection, eh?"
