Are you at least 18 years old?: Affirmative (About to turn 24 later this month)
Have you read the rules? (Link): Yes, front to back.
(Optional) Were you referred by someone? If so, who: Lyressi/Pyrias
(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): Hello hello! Name's Lux, or Arty, whatever ya prefer, either is fine to me! I’ve been roleplaying for about a decade now, good share of which has been on Minecraft so I’m not completely jumping into the deep end. I’m a big fan of the fantasy genre, and just generally love making characters and writing stories. Oh and happy late New Year!

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
Grace’s hands twiddled together impatiently, her gaze having been cast to the road for much of the journey, a silent look of contemplation in her face as she wondered about what lied ahead, at least until that voice lured her from her thoughts.
“Oh- sorry-”
She responded with a stammer, brushing a strand of wheat-blonde hair from her face, fair in color. The girl seemed, well, just a bit out of sorts. She offered a sigh as she clutched a warm, vibrant colored blanket closer to herself, which appeared to be embroidered with Midland typical Valkians symbols, almost patriotic in a way.
“Suppose simply there was nothing left for me back in the realm…”
The answer was just a bit labored, the girl turning her face to gaze back out at the road that they traveled on, feeling the shake and bump of each rock the wagon’s wheels happened to hit, the thrum akin to her own heart beat. Contemplation.
“I lost my parents to a string of howling coughs. When they were both finally burned at the pyre, I didn’t think I could stay. That first night at home without them, swear I saw the shadows move, maybe a trick from the fey, I don’t know. I could scarcely sleep.”
Grace mumbled more than spoke, like she wasn’t confident in her own words. Her breath hiked as she felt a breeze brush past her face, her blanket was pulled closer.
“We were traders- well, more artisans than anything. Pottery, jewelry, all that sorts and stuff, we were saving to be able to attend for the Meriza mid-spring festival, father said we were going to make a fortune, but after they died- I just took what I could and well, here I am.”
She tried to smile at the older woman, but it fell soon after along with her gaze.
“Maybe I hoped to find myself in the Reach, I’ve certainly seen enough paintings, rolling hills, beautiful lands, and the spire. My parents talked about it, moving out here once the well ran dry back home, I’m just finishing what they started I suppose.”
