Hey, I'm James and I'm excited to be diving into the world of Avalore! I'm a long-time Minecraft player with many years of roleplay experience, as well as a weekend dice-roller in my friends Dungeons & Dragons campaign. I'm a massive enjoyer of video and tabletop games (obviously) and always down to meet some new and interesting people!

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
I raise an eyebrow at the aging woman, studying her features for a moment before actually considering my response. "Why does anyone come here? New trade opportunities, untold years of adventure... to get away from your past life." With my tell-tale sing-song accent filling the tarped interior of the wagon, a few pairs of eyes from the other travelers fall on me in curiosity, before looking away once more. I look out the back of the wagon, ignoring the all too familiar gazes of questioning eyes. I watch the cobbled road emerge from under us and the dust kicked up from the wheels drift off in the breeze as the wagon rolls along. "I'm here because I want- no, I need to find a new purpose in my life. My parents might've had high hopes for me on the ocean, but it's just never called to me. The Isles... there's just nothing there for me."
Pulling up my rucksack and digging inside for a moment, I produce a square-cut piece of salted fish native to the water near Marionsport. Ripping off a chunk and handing it to the lady, I take a bite from the remainder, chewing for a while before continuing. "Honestly, I have no idea if I'll find what I'm looking for here, but something tells me that obelisk just might be the key to my self-discovery." I scoff at my own words. "Speaking of discoveries, how have we not figured out what that thing is yet?" I gently shake my head in wonderment. "What I do know, if nothing else, is that it has an effect on me that no amount of sailing or spear fishing ever has. I can feel it calling out to me, almost bewitching me with it's mystery." I pause a moment, looking down at my meal to ground myself. "Or maybe I'm just losing my mind from denying my lineage." I look up at the old woman again with a weak smile.
I put away the rest of my portion and wipe my hand on the bottom of my worn out shirt. "I wouldn't say I'm "nervous", just... very eager to begin anew." I continue in a more relaxed and playful tone. "Learn a new trade, settle down on a piece of land, maybe even befriend a dunkbear. The future - my future - is ripe for molding, and I plan to shape it into a work of art."
