The rhythmic lull of hooves is a marching drum for the small band of pioneers and assorted folk you’ve found yourself among, huddled together in a swaying wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out around you, the hum of lively conversation a dull wash in your ears as your mind wanders to your former life and what brought you here to new lands.
"Nervous?"
You blink, snapping back to the present moment. A kindly older woman sitting next to you is smiling warmly, a crinkle in her eyes.
"I can tell this is your first time. I still remember mine," she smiles and leans in.
"Tell me, my dear, why did you come to the Reach?"
