Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
"Hm?" she leaned in closer at the lack of a response.
Her eyes moved to his hands that had begun to twist, fold and knot what looked like twine and branches.
'What an odd fellow,' she could only think to herself, 'He was doing naught before until I sat down, is he ignoring me?'
As she shifted herself and reached out her hand to place upon him -
"Leave him. Think he's praying or something of the sort," the man across from them spoke.
"Not Prayer. Offering," The hulking figure finally spoke.
"Offering?"
"For Fire. For Guidance"
The figure gently threw what he had made into the small campfire before them. A creature's head woven of wood and twine.
'Were Greatlings so adept at craftsmanship? Ah - '
The fire blazed to devour the new fuel it had been offered. Embers seem to dance as the wood and twine burned. Then, a flash. She hastily moved to shield her eyes but in a blink - there was nothing. No, there was. What remained among the burning wood and kindling - the creature's head carved into stone.
'Did he carve a rock? then wrap it with branches?'
She glanced across to the other man who had spoken up earlier, wondering what he made of all this. But he was lying in the grass, seemingly uninterested in what just happened. Had he even seen that light?
"What was that?"
"If that's what you're asking, guess you're really not a witch huh?" the man spoke up without sparing her a glance.
"What? Of course not, I'm a healer."
The man let out a soft chuckle before turning on his side and facing them, "Heard those Valks calling you one. But Guess you're just an outsider, else you'd be in their cozy tents right?"
The woman scowled, "Outsider? Anyways, you're saying what he just threw in the fire was a witch's thing?"
"He says its a stone that burns. I've never heard of anything like that."
Her eyes turned back to the figure with newfound interest.
"Is he speaking the truth?"
The figure shook his head.
"No witchcraft. Stone that burns yes."
"Did you come here maybe learn witchcraft then? Maybe to learn from the Spire?"
He looked up at the towering Spire in the distance. They were still a few days ride but even now it was visible. His gaze lingered only for a moment before it returned to the fire. He shook his head.
'I guess I saw wrong.' She smiled to herself. Her own gaze shifted from him to the spire. When she first saw him, she thought him to be a simple mercernary. Like the Jack lying on the other side of the fire. He had been hired as a guide. Guidance, the Greatling had said. But not from the Spire, or the legacies of the Aedall. Guidance from the fire. All the way in the Southern Reach? A small worry sprouted in her heart. She was not as simple witted or ignorant as their companion Jack. She knew the tales of the Fireborne. She knew at times they willingly strode into the shadows and into the darkness in their crusades. One this far south felt like an omen. Was a Shadow to befall upon the Southern Reach? No, one had settled already.
'Since the time of the Aedall. or even prior.' She mulled to herself.

Character Name: Cael'Mir | or 'Sun' as he would introduce himself in the common tongue.
[[Cael'mir is not meant to translate to 'sun'. The common name is simply one he uses]]
Character Race: Greatling
Character Age: 34
Brief Physical Description:
Sun is a towering Figure at 8'1 with a large built body often inadequately covered by simple and long cloths draped over his shoulders. His skin is ashen, yet is burnt with a tinge of the dusk's fading light. As your gaze travels upward, your eyes first meet his. Irises, a golden yellow. The whites of his eyes, no - there was no white. It was dark, dull, black. Black Blood? Are his eyes then Blood-shot? Your gaze lingers a moment - a sun in the night sky - before the rest of his visage registers in your sight. Dark Grey horns sprout through his white hair from either side of his head, and curl upwards.
