I've heard tale of many beasts and abberations in these lands, some of which have been causing serious trouble with the local population. It's in my blood to learn of these creatures of the night, as I come from a long line of monster hunters. For generations, my family have called the lands of the north in the great Valkian Realm home, studying the ways and weaknesses of our local monsters and protecting our town from them. We were able to create a name for ourselves as nobles of our town, becoming prominent and beloved. Yet there were still those that feared our knowledge and interest in the creatures of the night. Eventually, the people turned on us and our good work. The ruling class cast us out as heretics, our heroic songs forgotten and our Valkian steel weapons stolen.
