(A response to Trenbeloni's post on discord)Greetings to my fellow Coup-Caller,  I am Erebos Soleis, and if you have read my brief response to your lackluster notice on the community board, you know I too have issues with the Spire government and have called for its destruction in the past. While I no longer hold the views I did during that time, at least not to the same extremities, I do still believe in them to some extent, and would like to use this as an opportunity to give some unsolicited advice based on the issues I noticed in your leaflet. Consider this some friendly advice from a self-proclaimed expert in our field. Let us begin with your issues on nobility and the rich, of which I agree almost entirely. Although I have met a few nobles that have been genuinely caring people that use their position of power to the benefit of their people, the vast majority of them are arrogant, self-serving corrupt maggots feasting on the corpses of their kingdoms and duchies. However, I do not know if you and your implication of a group are new to the Spire, but there is little to no nobility in this town, thank the Gods. Per Councillor Vyra’s response, the town council is democratically elected, and the councillors are in no unique position of social power above the ‘common folk.’ In fact, I have seen Councillor Vyra working in the bar purely because they felt like it, that does not sound like a noble that has ‘never lifted steel in anger,’ hm? To me, that sounds like a hardworking individual that sought out political power for the benefit of their community, and for Councillor Vyra’s case, I can attest to their political motivations being pure, for lack of a better word. I can also vouch for the character of Councillor Drenmir Fesyla, although my interactions have been much more limited with him. To some extent, he is a part of the reason the vast majority of the townspeople are not piles of corpses in a distant battlefield, as his work at The Garden, along with countless others, saved the lives of all of us. He also has raised children of wonderful character, and that very much reflects on him and his wife both. Enough defending individuals, let us return to the factual errors with your leaflet. The Spire does not have many ‘gilded halls,’ and I do not know how you reached that conclusion. Yes, the architecture in town is nice, and the town hall is quite lovely, but our town is nothing compared to Valkia or Koram. The Council does not speak of prosperity or order for themselves alone, nor have they since the ‘departure’ of former Councillors Quincy and Rott, who both abused their positions to carry out unlawful guard orders. While the fact these individuals were able to obtain office in the first place is indeed an issue of democracy, we cannot deny the fact that the existence of an elected Council has improved the lives of those in the Spire. From my observations, incidents of guard abuse have gone down as they have been subjected to more, but still lacking, oversight, the town has grown economically through the expansion and trade deals, and the rate of crime has gone down significantly. That is not to say we still do not struggle with crime, but considering a large portion of that is due to the Fey, I do not see a proper government response. There is little we can do except fight them, and that would be unwise, to say the least. Whatever ‘scraps’ you have been left with in town is due to no fault but your own. Although I would wish to see housing be completely free, the rent prices are as ‘fair’ as rent can possibly be, there are multiple avenues of work through the countless local businesses, hospital, guilds, religious monuments, and so on. There is also discounted lodging in the Inn, and free rooms in the tavern. At least, I think they are free. I have never paid and no one has complained to me. It is a chore to be without shelter in the Spire, the food and drink are far cheaper than most other lands I have been to, and the job opportunities are plenty. Finishing off this section of your leaflet, not once have the Council demanded any sort of thanks or payment for the work they do, and have never forced compliance, except for Councillor Glover acting outside of his authority, for which he was dealt with. On to the next section, of which I take much more issue with. What exactly is the ‘will’ to take a land? Why is your ‘will’ more important than the will of any other? What makes you and your ‘brotherhood’ the ‘rightful’ rulers instead of a government elected by the people? To me, it seems your brotherhood shares their ideology with nobles, that something about them is better than everyone else, so they should be in charge. Instead of riches or bloodlines, in your case, it is ‘strength.’ What is meant by this ‘strength?’ Is it physical, mental? What right does being strong give anyone to anything? Again, back to your shared ideology with nobility. You believe yourself to possess some unique quality, and somehow that translates into you believing you are owed power. How does your strength make you more fit to rule than someone who is weak physically or mentally? Physical strength has nothing to do with politics unless you are a simpleton warmonger, and those who have suffered the most mentally have more strength than any sort of ‘hard working, destitute, strong brotherhood.’ Knowing how to function in combat does not speak to any sort of political talent, as demonstrated by a few of the people in this town. Cadayle. On to the final section, what is this place? Where is it, how does it operate, who is running it, how is it run, how is it sustainable? None of these questions are answered in your leaflet, a dire mistake. If you want others to join you outside of passing interest, your ideology should be laid out clearly, along with your governmental structure, and how this ideology and government are achieved. Through what methods do they form, develop, and function? And this ‘sign’ business is just ludicrous. How do you expect others to join you if they do not know whom and what they are even joining?  Transparency is key in government operations, and so far, I am seeing a distinct lack of it. No titles, no masters, no cowards. Somehow, I find that hard to believe. See, I view you and your brotherhood as nothing more than cowards wanting to be masters with titles. Anyone who seeks power for power’s sake is nothing more than a weak fool, in body and mind, who out of a lack of control on their own life, must control others to fill that void. From what your leaflet entailed, it leads me to assume you want some sort of ‘might makes right’ dictatorship, which seems antithetical to your supposed ideology of equality.  I know that was harsh, but this is where I offer my advice, and an explanation of my credentials as a coup-caller and doer. I have destroyed more villages and people than I can count, taken down smaller governments without even a second thought, caused irreparable harm to those who were undeserving, all because I wanted to build my utopia. And where did that lust for power, that wrath, that destruction get me? Nowhere, I was never closer to bringing about my goals than if I sat on a street corner and yelled all day for the rest of my life. I wanted a world where everyone was in harmony with nature. No buildings, no creations, just pure nature. I viewed, and still view to some extent, the existence of the artificial, the creations of the sentient races, as being the ultimate source for our suffering because it shifted the purpose of our lives from basic survival to acquiring capital and material goods. I wanted a society that was truly equal, where decisions are made by communities as a whole, not a government, and no one has any sort of title or position of power that would ever put them above anyone else. What we want, what we believe in, are not the same things. At least, they are not from the impression your leaflet made. You want to replace an adequate government with a dictatorship, and I will not allow that to stand. Clarify your views, tell us what it is your brotherhood is about, and then we shall see if you are even worth the killing that I WILL do if you dare attempt to harm anyone in this town.  I look forward to your possible improvement, or inevitable death, Erebos Soleis, owner of Erebos & Azriels’ Plushie Plaza
