Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
As Sigurd stared at the woman with wide eyes, painfully aware of how quiet he had been, he tilted his head. "Sorry...?" He asked, at first confused, before the question finally reached his mind. "Ah! Yes, the Reach!" Sigurd repeated, with a hearty laugh, finding his own listlessness amusing. "For no reason, save for the journey itself." He cracked a grin at her, his cheerful disposition clear upon his expression. "For as long as I can remember, I yearned to travel, like my heart was pulled along by an undertow. I was terribly scared of it, though, truth be told... The prospect of venturing out." He said, clearing his throat, as a beat passed between them. He then patted his knee and continued on. "But I got 'round to it, and that matters more than anything, doesn't it? Every great adventure starts with a single step, and mine shall start no different. I know not, care not, for where I go, so long as every day takes me somewhere new, and every night I may make friends in the taverns and inns I cross."He sighed, leaning back upon the canvas of the wagon's walls. "It's probably for the better I made my way somewhere else, I was beginning to talk all my friends' ears off at the tavern... And for that, they call me 'Sigurd the Quiet', in hopes the name rings true." He said with another hearty laugh. "It's hilarious, and I shall miss those lads, the singing, the playing, the antics... But I can't see myself being a simple shipwright my entire life. No, not me, not Sigurd the Quiet." He sighed, gazing out the back of the wagon's flaps. "I shall find my way around this world, from the beautiful islands of Mist Isles, to the bustling cities of the Midlands, even to Frostpeak in the far North, and beyond. All I hope is that the distractions on the way are delightful, and filled with good company." He sighed, pausing for a moment before looking to the woman once more.
"I wonder once we reach The Spire, and our paths diverge, if I can find a Valkyian caravan of sorts to travel alongside... They go beyond that wall of theirs pretty often don't they? You think they'd take me with them North? There's got to be some others like me, adventurers and explorers, where we're headed... What do they even have there? Where's it even come from?" He asked, sincerely curious, a touch hopeful, before chuckling as his excitement overtook him. He then leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his eyes trailing towards the floor of the wagon. There was a wistfulness within his gaze. "Its strange, I've not been gone but a few months, but I feel that twinge of homesickness. But I cannot look back, else I cannot see where I am heading."
