OOC Minecraft Username: JaffaJoke Are you at least 18 years old?: Yes Have you read the rules? (Link): Yes(Optional) How did you hear about Avalore?: I have several friends who play actively.(Max. 1) Were you referred by someone? If so, please provide their in-game username: Thiefclass (Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): I've been RPing on and off for around 16 years at this point, though I've been on a writing hiatus in the last few. I do a lot of Tabletop RPGs, mostly as the DM but occasionally as a player. I've heard the community is good for Avalore and my friends have asked me to apply and join them. I look forwards to, hopefully, joining the community at large in telling some cool stories.  — In-Character Read the following prompt: The sound of clinking glasses and idle chatter welcome you in as you find yourself stepping into The Full Cask. An older man with a full mustache and warm smile beckons you over to the bar he's tending. His gazes washes over you, a glint of some knowing look shining in his eyes. As you sit, his voice rumbles out: "Hello there stranger! What can I get for you?"  After you order, he continues to make small talk. "You must be a newcomer. I'm Maarten, glad to meet you." He says with a certain kindness in his tone.  "Tell me, what brings you to the Spire?"   How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium.  Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)Usage of AI to generate, modify or translate the writing on your application will result in denial of your whitelist. There will be no chance to re-apply afterwards. Your Response: Finian raised his hand in response as the man addressed him, stopping in the doorway briefly to pull a leaf from his dark hair and discard it outside. The skin around his eyes wrinkled up a little as he smiled brightly at the warmth of the greeting. His voice, an almost musical lilt behind the deep tone, carried across the room in response. “Aye, Hello there friend. Could I trouble you for a drink? Whatever is the favorite here. I’m not a difficult man and I'd like to get a taste for the local flavors. What’s life without a little excitement, eh?”The man strode across the room, approaching as he spoke, and leaned against the most convenient piece of furniture with his palms. His hands rife with the tapestry of scars which spoke to a life lived at sea. In response to the follow up presumption and introduction, Fin nodded his head cheerfully in a gesture towards the rest of the room. “Ah, pleasure’s all mine Maarten. I’m Finian, though I've been called Fin more times than I can count. Glad the first face to truly meet here is a friendly one. I haven't always been so lucky. Though the people of this town seem friendly enough at first glance, eh?”The follow up question seemed to light something behind Finian’s eyes, and his already cheerful expression seemed to grow in intensity and warmth. “Asking an islander to spin you a story? You certainly know how to make a Mistan feel at home, Maarten! It’s a bit of a winding tale, much as I love telling it, and I'll spare your time some of the less interesting details. I grew up as a lad at the foot of the cliffs in Eryndor. Fog and sea-spray were more home to me than sunny days and bright sun. Like any good Mistan I grew up half on or in the water, helping my folks fish and tending the rigging aboard our ship. The day came and, unlike my folks, I decided to wander. To see the world myself and, ultimately, to find a story to tell on my return that would make the trip worthwhile. I built a little ship, not well enough in hindsight mind you, and set out from the Isles with the blessing of my parents and a song in my heart.”Finian shifted his weight to one forearm and made a broad gesture out towards the west, his expression one of wistful happiness. “I set out east first, though the noise of the midlands' great cities and castles was… Well, let’s just say I’m not suited for such a hustle and bustle. I made my friends and set out from there back towards the isles. Truth be told… Part of me was worried I'd made a mistake in leaving my home. A great storm settled my indecision for me, though, and carried me back towards the Midlands. The winds took my sails, the waves took my supplies, and the rocks took my ship. I was picked up by a passing ship, a merchant, bound south for the Reach with supply. Well, I hadn’t a better idea of what to do with myself so I signed on for the journey. Aided with rope and rigging, ate stale ship biscuits, and so landed here. Little to my name by my story and my song, and searching for more of both. What do you think Maarten? Could this town use a salt-sprayed storyteller?”   — Character Name: Finian Salt-Spray Character Race: Human Character Age: 31 Character Height: 5'11" Brief Physical Description: A young man with sun touched skin and dark hair slicked back with salt and practice. His dark facial hair is trimmed into a pointed beard and mustache. His expression is typically a warm smile. Silver earrings and ornaments decorate his round ears, and his clothing is usually light and easy to move in. Bright colors are a favorite of his. The clasp on his sash is a simple dowel of carved hardwood from the isles, the only piece he kept from his ship. Image of Skin and Figura Model:
