In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
—The giant raised his brows in some surprise at the elderly womans friendliness with him, he was used to some initial fear from people in his travelers, moreso from elders of those races that had long since been harassed by his kin. Walking beside the wagon as opposed to riding within, using a shepherds crook of proportional size as a walking stick; the greatling returned her friendly grin with one of his own along with a slight bow of the head towards her, a most formal address."I see what lies below stone peaks, Matron. What fills rivers and walks thenns" He explained simply pausing to await a response, only being met with a tilt of the head and a curious look he continued"Stonerunner, your people call us and we claim the name. I walked the ridges and peaks the old forests and young streams. Guide caravans over passage and herd the roaming flocks. I come down from the mountain now, to walk amongst the green and brown, to see where caravans come and go from, see with my own eyes.."He turned now looking back southward towards distant peaks homesickness paining his being briefly before he chuckled and shook his head"Learn your games as well. Soon summer will be upon us, great games will begin.. First summer since I remember I will not participate."He paused again, turning to look at her; a questioning look upon his face"You hold similar festivities? Log throwing is most enjoyable, the Hunt and Climb more so." He waved a hand dismissively"No matter, I seek to meet the many beasts of your lands, 'bogstriders' I see many paintings of, odd horse if you ask me, though Dunkbear fur is very nice, I should like to seek one out. Lots to Hunt for, many trophies to gain.."He paused again as if remembering something"Gardeners, I hear rumors of people whom follow many of our raw tenants and come touched by so called divinity, they act as protectors, so rumors say, we have many words for their kind, though my people reject the supernatural arts. I should like to meet one of them.. perhaps they aren't so divine.."He slowly trailed off as he spoke, getting lost in thought as he marched alongside the caravan.
