In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
Manius leans away. He isn't exactly used to talking to people. He awkwardly smiles, shaking his head. He looks away, hoping she doesn’t pry further. He had ventured away from Odokhi, unable to stand the consistent strife and disputes. He left when he was 18, travelling to a remote place. Hidden away in nature, he uses everything he knows to live in the wilderness. Manius shuts his eyes. The politics and the constant war were a pain. All the clans can put aside their disputes when it is Hangawi. But the moment it’s over, they are back at each other’s throats. Why was war often needed? Why is there a need to raise a blade when words are enough? Even though it has been a few years, the blade’s appearance is etched in his mind. The family blade that sits on the mantle in his old home. He had estranged himself from his family. He knew he could not walk the path they proudly walked on. He can recall the disappointment in their eyes, his brother’s sad expression. He would rather raise a brush and spread peace than spill blood. That night, before he left. His brother had caught him, but he didn’t stop him. He simply stared and asked where Manius would go. He remembered telling his brother that he didn’t care where, but he won’t be moving to another clan. His brother had given him a sword, said nothing, and left Manius to what he was doing. They both know why Manius wouldn’t join another clan.
Manius had long believed that they stand by and watch, or if not, they’d be involved in the tensions. And even then, it would take everyone’s effort to even move towards a future where peace is the norm. Hence, he spent five years out in the wilderness by himself. Manius opens his eyes and peeks out at the other folks on the wagon. The idea of talking to any of them makes his skin crawl. His heart races, and he finds himself unable to even open his mouth. He is only on this journey because he heard of the Southern Reach from passing travellers and decided to board the wagon to explore.
The Spire, where an interesting, large structure towers into the sky. A town which has all walks of life. Manius looks down at his hands. He hopes it is as peaceful as it sounds. He never quite looked into Aedall, but it does pique his interest to learn what had happened to it. But, he is mostly visiting to see if perhaps he could find a place within there. Would he finally feel like he fits into the picture? If it is a failed adventure, he supposes he will have to return back into the wilderness. He hopes not. It has been getting lonely.

Character Name:
Manius
Character Race:
Arsa Sidhe
Character Age:23
Brief Physical Description:
Manius stands at a height of 5’6, and he has a thinner build. But it should be noted that he seems slightly lean. He wears a green robe and black pants. His hair is notably short and messily cut, as if he consistently trims it every day. He has red eyes and a pale complexion. His hair is a light shade of pink. His original hair colour was white, but he often uses rose petals to create pink dye to make his hair pink. Sometimes, if he forgets, his original hair colour will appear fairly quickly due to the nature of fast-growing hair of Arsa Sidhe.
