In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

"Well, nervous I am not, simply interested in the vast number of possibilities this land may bring me." Holding his head high, his face scrunched in a scowl as he thought for a moment. His hands fell to his lap and tapped rhythmically to the wobble of the wagon, as every entity within swayed along with it. "Moving on, where I came from is hard to say due to the many times I've fallen off the mountains of the Ashlands. Even so, my brothers informed me that I'm from just North of the wall. The journey from there was not one for the faint of heart. Especially for us. Due to some circumstances I rather not speak of, we are forbidden to enter directly through the gates. So, we found a bypass around the wall, a detour if you must, but that's a story for a later time." Slouching where he sat, he waited for a response, but to no avail. He continued. "Seeking adventure and riches, I traveled upland along with my brothers away from our home. Deciding swiftly, us being Valks, we are known to follow wherever we sense there to be a profit. A six-week journey was sailed in the rough waters on the way to the Ashlands. In this mindset, we skipped over to the next promising place after staying in the Ash, for eight months traversing through the rough terrain. After finding ourselves at the edge of the lands, waited till night to sneak onto a boat that was headed towards a place in the western region. Though the journey was long, it was worth it as it had led us to the city of Shokyu. Dwelling in this place for six months has brought us more clarity on the Collapse from the Arsa Sidhe. Many others might not glaze their eyes over the past, but I can't ignore it. I just don't believe that a generation was ended due to a revolution that ended with us humans winning. I want answers. This is why you see me here now, on this wagon heading straight towards the Spire, which brings an end to our five-year journey. To search for answers of the unknown."
