Domenic has stood in front of this poster for an hour, begging his liege-lady to let him go

Moony: Hello, I'm Moony. I'll be handling your application.  You're on the right track, and I appreciate your wide selection of lore that fits into Domenic's backstory. However, I would love if you could go in a little more detail on the relevance some of the lore you've selected to his backstory. Maybe expand on what happened at the funeral. Or describe his feelings about the Mason's Guild. Something along those lines. When you've done this I will continue processing this application. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to message me here, or through the Avalore Discord where I am also Moony.  I added some more depth. While writing the story surprised me, as the character began to take shape on their own and added details I hadn't even thought about. I'm excited to see where it goes. I tried to get across that he's a restless kid without outright saying it.

OOC Minecraft Username: Setsuko_ Are you at least 18 years old?: Yes Have you read the rules? (Link): Yes (Optional) Were you referred by someone? If so, who: N/A (Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins): Howdy. I go by Set. I have the attention span of a squirrel. — In-Character Read the following prompt: The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands. “Nervous?” You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes. “I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in. “Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?” How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium.) Domenic studied the woman for a long moment, fingering the small ring on his finger. He let his mind wander to the events of the previous week. Images of his home in the midlands met him as he closed his eyes in a slow blink. His cot, slept in only between stints spent camping at the quarry while his father worked on repairs at The Wall. Opening his eyes, he let himself recollect the courier riding to the small Rulan village. The look on the rider’s face as he spotted Domenic. The muttered apology as he handed him the letter, sealed with the wax sigil of the Masons Guild. A letter that told Domenic his father wasn’t coming home, that he’d fallen from the scaffolding in the night. The guild had brought Domenic his father's body two days later, and aided with the building of the funeral pyre. Giving his father peace, they'd called it. It had been a somber affair, yet Domenic had found himself thinking of his grandfather. Of the cracked shield hung over the mantle, and of his painting that had sat framed on the shelf. Silently, so none would hear, he offered a prayer to the Lady. It sounded right, like something the old man had muttered in his later years when his mind had begun to wane. Domenic's father hadn't been a knight as grandfather had, nor had he been religious, but he lived honorably. I'm a man of stone, he'd say, I believe in what I can touch. Only, now Domenic knew his father wasn't stone after all. Just a man, now just a memory. As the fires consumed his father's body, and the village's priest said his words, Domenic mulled on his path ahead. There would be nothing in the village for him now. No more rocks to break and wagon over to the wall for father, no more answering to the measly paychecks of the guild or its artisans always in a rush to finish a project. In a way, he had felt a weight off his shoulders. Since he'd never signed to the guild himself in their ever growing need for common laborers to assist in their projects, he was no longer beholden to them. His eyes found the village well, a simple structure of stacked stone and wooden planks. A simple well that never changed, never moved, never did anything exciting. A well his father built. When the fires rose too high and Domenic had to avert his gaze from the sizzling and crackling, his mind's eye fell once more on his grandfather. A wandering knight. A life of aimless adventure, with no one to give him orders or tasks to accomplish. Domenic glanced once more to that uneventful well, and he hated it. He left with the sunrise, taking with him the food left in the house, a small vial of his father's ashes around his neck, and his grandfather's sigil ring. For the first time, Domenic was beholden to no one. All in all, Domenic’s pondering hadn’t lasted more than a breath or two. It'd been a few days since it all happened, and Domenic was out of tears to let fall. When he looked back at the elderly woman, his head jostled by the inconsistent rocking of the wagon, he gave a softened, almost melancholic smile. “We’ll see,” he replied simply. — Character Name: Domenic Character Race: Human (Valk) Character Age: 18 Brief Physical Description: Domenic stands at an even 5'10", weighing in at approximately 160 lbs. His frame is thin but slightly thicker in the shoulder, neck and arm area due to his previous work in the quarry. His brown hair is kept short and neatly hand-combed to the side. His eyes are an olive green, and his overall attire remains more simple and modest.
