Ulrick Kyrie

"Love is feeling the warmth of home when you think of the special people in your life and fondly missing even those habits of theirs that others would call bad or strange."

Name: Ulrick Kyrie
Age: 31
Race: Human
Culture: Rulan
Sexuality:
Appearance: While he'd not consider himself overly handsome he does care about his appearance working to keep his beard in check and staying fighting fit even if he set his swords aside for now. Lots of time in the sun has bleached his hair and darkened his skin and time spent working stone has made his hands rough. When dressed casually he'll nearly always wear gloves to hide a tough scar on his right hand that crosses the palm and goes partway up the thumb restricting motion. He would like the scar to be gone but doubts any can grant that wish.

Story
Born under the stars of the Magpie, Ulricks childhood was typical for a lad raised the Duchy of Rulan. Dreams of a living as a soldier and making a fortune often drew him to daydream instead of paying attention in school and outside those hallowed halls he played with the other lads in town though he never threw sticks or mud at the girls the way they did. His father made sure to hammer the proper way to treat girls and women into him at a young age and it was a lesson he did not really want to be retaught later in life as his father was a stern no nonsense sort of soldier and craftsman.
It was inevitable that Ulrick would follow in his fathers footsteps to defend Rulan and to work as a stone mason, he truly enjoyed carving figures in stone but such work wasn't as reliable as general masonry so while he never gave up on stone carving he applied himself to stone masonry with determination which is how he got to meet his future wife. She looked like the very spring with hair the color of golden wheat, a green dress and blue eyes traveling with her folks for a festival, he couldn't remember if they were perusing a merchant or perhaps hoping to sell their own goods but it took him a day or two to find her amongst the stalls to strike up a conversation. Afterwards his peers took their turns trying to find him a good local girl since women from Fallstone were rumored to dance with Fey under the full moon and serve as bait to bring unsuspecting fools to the Fey, Not that he paid those rumors any mind.
He toiled over a long courtship and he considered the efforts well worth on the day of their wedding at place of Analae's choosing, her one condition however was that he had to wear a fine suit as she did like to see him dressed to the nines which he rarely did. the year after they had Valerie and two years after they had Ethel who as a complete surprise to him was born Fey-Touched and he had to defer to his wife and in-laws on the do's and don'ts of such babies and children. It's from them that he learned about the various types of Fey-touched and learned that Ethel was considered woodland touched since her skin was quite like bark while her eyes were curious shade like crystalline water. Despite all that Ethel was a remarkably beautiful child like her mother while Valerie took after her father and seemed fit to invite the outdoors inside the house if she had her way.
The day he came home to smoke and charred wood.... it was the worst day of his life and Ulrick nearly cursed the project that had him spending so much time in the second largest city in Rulan nearly a days ride from home. He was told one more sword wouldn't have made much difference, that he could not be blamed for what the rouges had done. Valeries' little garden survived and he tried so hard to find evidence of the girls, some clue to where they had gone but he can only hope that he'll find them in some neighboring realm since his neighbors and acquaintances hadn't found any sign of them in the countryside or neighboring towns to the north or west. His in-laws to the west sure hadn't been pleased with the dire news nor did they mention to him if any Fey had perhaps snagged their grandchildren up for safekeeping.
Having to admit defeat he went south hoping that perhaps whomever or whatever may have whisked his daughters away might have gone the only direction he hadn't really looked yet.

Relations
Analae (Deceased): His beloved wife from Fallstone. Winning her over was hard and many told him to give up on a woman so comfortable with Fey but he couldn't give up on her. He tried so hard to woo her as the son of a craftsman. Though as she tells it she knew it was true love after that one time he fell in a pile of -. She laughed about it with every retelling and while embarrassing it had been a fated meeting.
Ethel (Missing): His youngest daughter, fey-touched and looked very much like her mother. Once she found out she could hide very well amongst trees she took to spooking the family by leaping out and hissing like a cat or throwing a spider made of twigs and moss. Her laughter was like music afterward before she made sure she hadn't scared them too badly. He missed those moments.
Valerie (Missing): His oldest daughter, many said she had the misfortune for taking her looks from him but he didn't think so. He loved all three of the lovely ladies in his life and Valerie seemed like she might become a healer having taken to collecting the herbs and plants that could be used for medicine and trying to start a little garden on the side of the house with her mothers help. He tried to keep it up but he didn't have a green thumb it seemed....
Marquis: A lad from his home country of Rulan. Ulrick see's a lot in common from his childhood and despite his loss and pain therein he does want to see Marquis succeed in his dreams to become a knight to protect those who cannot do so themselves.
Lord of the Hunt: Ulrick can't remember the hunters name, just his self given title. A Fey touched hunter and musician, perhaps one day they can be good friends or at least drinking buddies

I hope I've hit the missing bullet points this time, if it's not too much trouble to review again.

You really can't stop learning or you'll stagnate. That and I forgot to snag my newer screenshots before the forum I posted them to got taken down :(

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
He looked at the woman pulling himself back from the memories that haunted him as he ran the fingers of his right hand over two rings on his left. Both were common enough for married couples to wear but less so for the man to wear both. He had paid handsomely for a small chip of blue gem to be fitted in a flower setting for his beloved and now it was all he had left of her. Of their family. "Ah, Yes my first time. You hear stories from the traders in the Midlands about places beyond belief, figured its' a good way to get a fresh start."
He didn't want to start fresh this way.
After serving in the Duke of Rulan's army and leaving the service due to no longer feeling right about the orders he was given by the duchy's successor he'd taken up his fathers work as a stonemason. Repairing the roads and stone walls as needed for his village until the allure of good pay enticed him to trek to the nearby city, not the capital though, he could not conceive of moving the family to the capital when they already had more than a days travel to Fallstone. He could bring a little more money home for his wife and two daughters, Valarie and the fey-touched Ethel from a lesser city. He returned home as often as he could with baubles he could find for cheap so Analae could keep her fine jewelry safe since the girls liked to borrow for their games of pretend. Coming home after hearing that a band of rogues had torn through the countryside seemingly unnoticed by all but heir targets had been terrifying. No one understood why or how, though it was murmured that a rival duchy may be responsible for the razing that occurred.
Ulrick found his wife in a sorry state, but there was no sign of the girls and no one could recall seeing his 6 and 4 year old daughters in the forests beyond town or in the fields, They had vanished as surely as the vagabonds had. He would have gone to the duchess of Rulan but while he had no quarrel with the young lady's father when he lived he couldn't get behind her. He wanted to understand that any child grown or otherwise would want to make their mark on the world and stand out from their parents but the direction the Duchess was taking Rulan made him highly uncomfortable. His gut told him that joining his neighbors to plead their case for aid was best avoided for now and as he hadn't much left he had tried to go to Fallstone to deliver the bad news. His In-laws in Fallstone, well they were a whole bundle of things that tolerated a man from Rulan and having lost their grand kids had not made them overly fond of him at the moment.
"Kind of hope I can find some people." He tried to offer the woman a worn smile, one he hoped wouldn't draw a look of pity, He had plenty of pity back home being a widower and and a sprinkling of disgust from his wife's family left a sour taste in his mouth.
