The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands. “Nervous?” You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes. “I can tell it’s your first time. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)* Jumping out to stretch his legs, he walked straight and steady as they were tested in the swamp lands south of the wall. He glanced toward the elder woman, gave her a nod, and his lips curled into a slight grin. "Simple. Off to find big game... the hunt always calls to me.” The Horse pulling the Wagon Walked slowly , Allowing Phil to Walk at a Normal pace without the need to catch up to it.He gave her another nod as they slowly wobbled toward the Spire His eyes flickered to the horizon ,barely seeing the spire off in the distance through the morning fog. His brows rose at the tall, unbelievable structure. He clenched his bow with anticipation, figuring where people gathered under such a mystery, there'd be coin, beasts and danger great enough for him as a hunter. A place where he could make a name for himself, perhaps even honor the very pact that raised him to be the hunter he was today. Born and raised in the swamps, in one of Phil’s Pacts, he was no stranger to survival. As was tradition, each member of the Pact had to hunt a worthy prey, one that proved their true skill and potential as a Jack. Jim was no different. After passing the trial at thirteen, he slowly integrated into the Pact and kept hunting bigger and bigger game, until the swamp could no longer offer a proper challenge. So, he decided to move south. The Spire promised to be a great stop: a place to ask about new game, new wildlife, new terrain to test himself against. He hoped to represent his Pact properly, honor them well, and show the rest what a Jack was truly capable of.Phil could remember the his trial day as clearly as still water. He was stalking through the thick muck of the swamp, knee high in it, in fact. He was hunting a Waterjack- watching it from afar, until suddenly another one of it's pack charged out of nearby water- had been concealed with swamp litter, waiting for Phil to get close enough to attack. A mix of blood and sweat mixed into the swampy muck as Phil wrestled with this waterjack as he struggled to untuck his knife from it's sheath. He hadn't even noticed this one so close to him- he hissed, damning himself for not being cautious enough. In The end , Phil Ended up Getting the Upper hand with his Knife bringing the Waterjack with him to the Pact proving him self worthy. And so, with his steady step and his usual slight smirk, he did once last big stretch, yawning as he did so before doing a quick little jog to catch himself back up to the wagon, jumping back in for the rest of the ride. To his next great stop, his next challenge, his next crossroads.
