ENVY AND GREED ARE NOT THE ONLY SINS
THAT REIGN WITHIN THE SEA
A cry for help, limbs floundering in the waves. Most scouting missions, the young marauder turns a blind eye on the capsized fisherman, having strayed too far from fair waters.
Yet when he heard that voice, weary and desperate, begging to be rescued from the depths, something within him changes course.
SHE is there, barely able to keep her wits together, straining, gasping for air. His meager crew is more than surprised that her legs managed to keep her afloat
By the time they had broken from their vigilant formation, off the coast of the Spire.
Her head slips into the depths, and his conscience, having been muted in the presence of such vice and velvet, screams out to save her. He can barely hear their protests as he finds himself immersed in the salty, choppy water, searching desperately for the damsel in distress.
Rainbow fish begin to swirl around him, and for a moment, he finds himself at peace, even if he had not saved that miss.
But when that sparkling school parts, the curtain reveals a lucent, oceanic gaze - a furious beast.
NO - SOMETHING HAS FOUND HIM.
Rumors and warnings begin to pass through the little vessels dotting the fleet, buoyed by fear and self-preservation,
having forgotten to be wary of the domain of the Serene.
A SIREN has begun to strike at night, weeping and wailing, only to brandish her trident against her saviors, coated in those same tears, committed to threatening them
with watery hell. Even the fish, once thought to be out of sight and out of mind, have now begun to keep watch over them, unhappy with the interlopers in their home.
Those same whispers would begin to dot the meager docks of the Spiretown, fellow fishermen fearful of what would become of their nets and their skiffs.
