In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

Atamari's sights return from an endless dwelling of forgotten thoughts to see before herself an old lady with a gentle, wise expression, expecting an answer out of her. She glances slightly to the side, avoiding eye contact with strangers as she has an experience of frightening some with a simple stare. The ever expanding landscape of plains and forests carries itself in the window of the wagon as Atamari looks into its infinite horizon for an answer to the old woman's question. Of course she was nervous. All of these strangers around her, yet not a single of her kind. A gentle tap of every rock the wagon rolls over reminds her that the path ahead is overlong. But she isn't feeling danger, at least for now. The company she finds herself in is quite gleeful but this old woman seemed unique. Out of this world even.
"Nervous? Well I suppose you could say that. I just tend to be careful on my journeys, as many of them... well they didn't go as planned. Do I..."Atamari lifted her eyes to meet the kind, warm face of the lady. "Do I look nervous to you?" She says with a slighlty trembling voice. The lady simply smiles and leans forward, slowly taking her hand and taking a lock of Atamari's hair inbetween her fingers, putting it against the orange rays coming through the window. Startled at first, she let the old lady finish the innocent gesture.
"Such beautiful hair, like silver.. Yes my dear, you appear quite nervous. I can tell it's your first time, I still remember mine. "The lady shifts in her seat, puts her cane from one hand into the other and slighlty tilts her head upwards, as if she's looking for the past and memories, all of her knowledge somewhere in the cloudy skies. Intrigued the entire time, Atamari listens on enraptured by the fantastic stories that are apparently possible in the Southern Reach and beyond. Then, the lady turns to her yet again. "Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?"
This question set back the slightly cheerful demeanor Atamari has been building up back to a mysterious, long thoughtful stare that looked for an answer all the way back at the shores of Ko'ram."I had to leave, I simply could not remain in a place I used to call home, for personal reasons.. I was once admired as a powerful warrior but a usurper has claimed my title, and when I tried to convince my people, expose his fraud and return my honor, they cast me aside and prayed my soul never comes back. All of Tobichi, my clan.. My family was the only thing holding me back, they never believed the words of others and wanted me to stay, but I no longer could... So I..."She looks away again for a moment, as she cannot bear the worried face of the kind old woman, but her worried expression soon turned into a wise, calm face.
"You are a part of your past, as it is a part of you, but clutching it in your heart for so long, that can cause you dismay young one. Speak your mind and it can ease your pain." Atamari made her hand into a fist, then put it on her knee and continued. "So I took and hid our family heirloom. Something very important to my family and my people. After that was done, I could no longer stay, and here I am." She smiled gently. "Every end is the beginning of something new, so my idea was to make use of some of my skills to either help those in need or be a hired blade for..." She paused, uncertain about what words to use next.
"Ah, I see."
The old woman spoke after studying Atamari yet again. "I can sense deeply confused emotions in you child, I know you feel remorse but also a fiery feel for vengeance. You can't choose between good and evil can you?" Good and evil. Black and white. If the world was so simple for her, she would not find herself sleepless at nights, lost in her thoughts at day, trying to see if believing in the greater good can really bear fruit. "The Reach is the last chance for me to believe that good exists" Atamari said at last. "A chance to begin again, and let go of the past."

Character Age: 42, born year 1598 AC
Brief Physical Description: Atamari is a quite tall, rather young looking Arsa Sidhe, with pantone white skin powerful crimson eyes with a strange sorrowful distance in them. Her hair is long and caressed, tied with ribbons, flowing down her shoulders almost resembling a silver river. She is used to wearing armor and warm clothing due to the rough conditions of the rocky shores far west. She is capable to sew and tailor her own and prefers dark colors, a practical lesson taught by her people to hide wounds. Although comfortable with a warmer wardrobe, Atamari has since accustomed herself to a warmer climate, preferring skirts and light blouses.
