Concerning the "Mutant Plague"
On the 17th of Highsun, 1641, during the town hall meeting with the new Council of Four, the topic of the mutant hunters and a "disease" mutants carry was brought to attention. As was required then, and is required now, an official statement is required from myself as I am overseeing the research into this matter, alongside a couple other doctors. For their security, I will not expose their names publicly at this point.
At this point in time, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any disease, illness, or plague. I cannot, with certainty, verify any claims such as those. I can, however, speak plainly of what has been discovered thus far, and to reality.
I have remained in close proximity to the body of one Tucker McGall for 3 nights, and have had no ill-effect for nigh on 2 weeks at this point in time. I am, however, not a mutant. We cannot use this as a confirmation nor denial of the existence of a disease. We have taken the body into custody, in a secure location, for further study. Mr. McGall's body is being treated with respect for the deceased. His funeral will take place with respect to his customs pending autopsy conclusion.
To those that live, and to mutants within the town, myself and the team looking into the matter, alongside all hospital staff, ask for patience and understanding while we work to find the cause. Be they mundane causes or hatred from the mutant hunters, if a disease should be discovered, adequate treatment, preventative measures, and, it is my hope, a cure, will be found. Should anyone, mutant or not, be concerned about their health, please visit us at the hospital. Should you be worried about the disease in specific, I will be happy tend to you.
Remember, mutants are not a disease. A disease are not mutants. Mutants, like all of us, are living people. Friends, family, loved ones.
