A DELIVERANCE
" I do not deny anything that is written of me. "
Do not mistake my initial silence and my choice to come forward upon acknowledgment as cowardice, an evasion of punishment - I write to this city with a trembling hand and a recovering body, one shattered by the hands of the necromancer, Crane. But this is not a defense, or an excusing of my actions; I will not try to appeal to your hearts with the details of my abduction and following escape.
At that very strategy meeting, where the contingencies were to be laid, my hand was forced by the same pirates who now held me under duress once more - this time, promised with the death of the Bosun, my Hamish, and all the memories that I had left of him, unless I did not act that very night. I did what I had to do, trusting in the only ally I felt, I knew, that I could rely on - myself. I am only remorseful that another presented itself when it was too late, the Councillor Penelope. For her, do I admit full guilt.
It is unclear to me what Lady Noctis set out to do in her missive - I claim ignorance to the state of this city, except when it comes to matters of my adored ocean. I cannot blame her for what I could glean from her words, as I know what is like to watch helplessly as affliction upon affliction lands upon what one cares about, with little retribution or care shown by others. That is the root of my disillusionment - stuck between the roles of helpless spectator and desperate outsider.
But in marking my head in hopes of bringing to light the dark, shadowed rot she speaks of, I fear that I myself will not be found to be held accountable, to undergo the existing process of justice within the Spire; it will be my body, found as victim to whichever definition of righteousness burns me the brightest.

CALLAN MORANCAIRE
OOC Note: No hard feelings anywhere here! Just wanted to give her a chance to respond. :3
