Heed this, passerby!
A grave injustice is may yet await the undeserving within the walls of this Spire.
For a crime, whose penance has already been paid; may yet be punished a second time over.
A crime of words alone- which undoubtedly deserved punishment, has already been paid for.
Cadayle- who had not killed a single Spirefolk; was blinded by another in a moment of impassioned rage.
As it stands now; Cadayle faces a second judgement by the Gauntlet- for she is held within the prison.
Blinded, and now trapped within walls and bars, awaits a second judgement. It must not come to pass.
Many of you hate Cadayle. We all hold contempt for her in our hearts; whether openly admitted or not.
Yet, in casting her into the Gauntlet, we would only reaffirm the attacker's misplaced sense of justice.
What he sought to achieve, would be done twice; steeling the beliefs of those following his footsteps.
His impassioned rage; which was brought about by the misplaced belief that Cadayle had murdered.
Yet- in truth, she had not. What truth that was brought out by gathered recollections is thus;
Siona's unfortunate death was brought about by magical or natural means. Lightning struck her down.
It is well-known Cadayle holds magic in contempt; unable to harness the arcane in the slightest.
Thus; one man's misguided judgement has ended with her being blinded. A dour and ruinous fate.
A fate, which she had never once brought upon anyone within the Spire. Slanderous words, aching bruises.
Broken teeth. Bleeding wounds. Yet, never once; had she stooped so low as to permanently blind another.
And now; she is held within the damp, underground cells; awaiting more punishment.
If you do not believe in justice, then; think of mercy. This woman's livelihood is ruined. Her fighting has ended.
She cannot read. She cannot write. She cannot work a forge. She cannot cook. She can barely feed herself.
All she is able to do now; is orate. Think, what fate would the gauntlet bestow upon one cast in for 'harassment'?
Would it demand that her tongue be stripped of her, too? Are we so willing to leave a woman blind and mute?
Solely for speaking her mind; as rotten, foul, and twisted as it may be?
Cadayle's freedom must be assured.
