Poster Council of the Spire Post-Sundering Council Notice
Started by Kamaoe

Notices are posted on notice boards in several languages and read out loud for the illiterate by hired readers.

Penned by Ser Adrian Pandion (exceptions for accounts)

To the citizens of the Spire who seek insight on what hast happened during the events of the Sundering on 9th Falltide of 1641, this document will seek to lay out the events of the Sundering in a way easily digestible, explain what may happen, and what the council will do with it’s remaining time moving forward in terms of the aftermath.

The Sundering began quite suddenly, with the Chained One making his presence known via booming voice, rifts throughout the town, and a large eye which manifested over the Spire itself. A large crowd of combatants and medics amassed in the central square afore the tavern and split into three groupings whilst the rest of the town either evacuated or sheltered in place. One group went to defend the beacons, another to defend the door, and the last to repel invaders from a rift which appeared in the market square.

Fighting alongside the townsfolk were an envoy from Rulan, Voidlings of a friendly nature, one known as The Dreaming One, and later, we wert enjoined by Ciren’na.

[The Beacons]

A group of folk went above, where the beacons, the giant floating crystals were under attack. They fought bravely and valiantly, defending the beacons with spell, sword, and bow. Winged enforcement were amongst those above, defending. As the assault pressed on the skybridge, voidlings began leaping for the beacons in an attempt to bring them down. It was after the attack had been going for some time that a Voidling from the Rift in the Market Square fired a ‘beam attack’ and brought a beacon crashing down ‘pon the Kawatare Shrine.

[The Rift]

9 Falltide 1641 A.C. marked the onset of the Sundering. The opposition was comprised of Spirefolk, allied Voidlings under the Dreaming One, and the at-the-time undivided Patron Ciren'na.

One initiative focused on repelling an invasion from the rifts inside the city, taking place in the Market located East of the Spire. Smaller foes were largely kept at bay by Voidling allies, while two larger Voidlings comprised the primary opposition. Connected by vulnerable tethers to the Rifts above, both were dispatched by Spirefolk before either could reach the base of the Spire.

When close to defeat, each undertook desperate measures to try and reach their goal. The faster of the two split into multiple smaller parts which were summarily dispatched, while the slower chose to self-destruct and fire a beam through one of the floating Beacons surrounding the Spire. The impact caused it to plummet into the Kataware Shrine near the Spire's doorway. Each utilized magic capable of damaging those within a given area, and while injuries were numerous, none died within the duration of the assault.

Partway through the conflict, a complication arose with one of the fighters present. A previous wound had left a scar latent with Ether magic upon their person, a condition then leveraged the day of by a Voidling attempting to use it as an exit point into our world. Removal of the site saved their life and prevented the Voidling from escaping.

[The Door]

From the market square, the door defenders had some time to orient themselves afore the assault began, though that did little to assist with finding the front or the back. As the attack began, a voidling called Starcarver for identification, set upon the group to quell the defense and break open the door to the Spire. The group was soon inundated with smaller voidlings attacking which surrounded the defenders.

From the Shrine to either entry, the bottleneck was caught with defenders pushing the smaller voidlings back as Starcarver circled above, raining attacks down from above. It was halfway through the battle that mages, infected by the Chained One’s influence joined the fray and began to attack the defenders as well. As the mages attacked, the friendly voidlings pulled enemy voidlings back into the Ether, removing them from combat.

As the battle raged on, and the door was taking little damage, Starcarver circled around and charged the door. It attempted to use itself as a battering ram to mow down the door. It was killed, and the momentum it had built up lead it to crash into the barricades erected and into the door, opening it. Upon the death of Starcarver and the opening of the door, the smaller voidlings and mages retreated into the Ether rifts torn open by the Chained One. Whilst the door was opened, one of the beacons from above crashed down onto the Kawatare Shrine opposite the Spire door.
[Account provided by Ser Adrian]

It has been found that in the course of the fighting outside the Spire that several members of the Rulan entourage lost their lives in defense of the Spire Town. It is requested that folk give our neighbors to the north some grace and thanks for the work they’ve done in our defense.

Once the Spire was opened, the combatants and medics moved within. In the center of the Spire was a giant beacon unlike anything outside, held aloft by chains and girdles akin to what held the beacons outside. Shortly after entry, we beheld visions of the past. An Aedall man with his child, two Aedall standing and speaking at the base of the mural directly opposite the door, and lastly, the three of them standing as one killed the other. We’d barely time to recover before a portal opened in the Spire. From it emerged Ciren’na, a patron of magic, and Captain Lily the Militia captain. Ciren’na had a plan she’d devised with the Dreaming One, who’d been assisting in the battle outside. We need only buy her time. It was after this was explained when Lady Ma’ran, the court mage of Rulan, puppeted by the Chained One entered the fray. Battle began again as Ciren’na worked and The Chained One attempted to stop her.

The Spirefolk were able to repel the invading force with the help of some Voidlings who appeared to assist. In the course of the fighting, two lives were lost. Sergeant Halbie Grohss and Meridy Illuma lost their lives in defense of not just the town, but in defense of the world. As The Chained One was banished from Ma’ran, Ciren’na’s spell worked. A large portal was formed in the middle of the floor beneath the crystal, and Ciren’na vanished into it. Captain Ink followed her soon after. Their current status is unknown. Wounded were taken away for treatment, and the evacuated were called back.

[In the Aftermath]

Currently we know little of how this will impact life in the Spire, and have little information at this time. Tis advised that all citizens of the Spire be prepared in the days ahead, and utilize best practices.

One thing we do know is that The Dreaming One’s help came with a deal. The friendly Voidlings who assisted in the battle wilt be allowed to enter our plane and walk amongst us. They art no enemy, so treat them not as such. Currently none hath appeared, but they should be made as welcome as we can make them.

The town is undergoing clean up and repair, with crews working to clean up the mess left behind. The Kawatare shrine will be rebuilt as soon as possible. Anyone displaced will be given free room and board at the tavern until homes and other occupied buildings can be repaired.

The Council will be ensuring that food remains plentiful and available in the days ahead, and beginning to get stores ready for winter. We will also be looking for more news and answers, anyone with insight in encouraged to bring relevant information to the council. The end of the current Circle will be coming to an end soon, and we intend to hold a Town Hall at the end of the week. [Friday after 7pm EST]

This is all which is known at this time, and is spread in the interest of transparency. Please be kind to thine fellow Spiran, and when the Voidlings come to explore take no arms up against them.
