In-Character
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and a variety of folk have been packed into a wobbling wagon. Among them is a girl, clear blue eyes blinking awake; she admires the clear sky, the rolling plains of the Southern Reach stretching out all around them, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash around her, as her mind strays to your former life and what has led them here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
Caligo — the girl — blinks, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sitting near them is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
Hesitation is clear in her expression for nothing more than an instant; for really, what does she have to lose?
“Adventure, Miss. My father — ah, I’m from the Isles, you wouldn’t know him — raised me, and instilled into my very soul a wanderlust insatiable.”
At this, she smiles fondly. Her father was all any child could ask for; gave her whatever she wished. Perhaps he was a distant relative of Queen Castella, like he used to claim; it would certainly explain the finery that she grew accustomed to. More likely, he was a Lord, after all, his stories had strange details that one would only remember if they were there. Things like the count of cannonballs left in the helm, hide-aways that seemed just too good to be true until she saw them for herself.
“He’s a wonderful man; but he says his days of adventure are long behind him, so I should go out and devour all I can see.”
Caligo flashes the woman a smile, with bright teeth bold against her tan skin. She continues.
“And so, I go to the Spire. What more could I want from adventure, after moving from place to place ‘bout the Isles?”
Yet again, she pauses; looks at a passing shadow. Seabirds were common as shells on the beach, or song thrown around the stalls of the Pearl Coast; her fingertips graze over a bracelet. And oh, she can almost smell the sea; remember the feeling of saltwater drying in the sun across her skin.
“Other than seeing She of the Seas, the Siren Serene, of course. Oh, how I’d adore to see her; my father told me many a tale of her works in lieu of my mother. He told me, once, how a beautiful scarf of tiraz was laid on the beach; how it was gone the next day, and the bay ever since has had an abundance of fish for as long as the story will be kept alive.”
Caligo falls quiet in something adjacent to awe; curiosity, perhaps. She lowers her hand; smoothes down a layer of her skirts. Then, she turns, and looks at the old woman with curious eyes.
“And what of you?”

Brief Physical Description: A willowy girl, with long, auburn hair. Eyes the same hue as the ocean lie behind unkempt bangs; reflecting the world around them. Even her outfit is like waves crashing onto sand; fabric layers of foam, white skirts under sea-shell belts; a handful of cords and metal as jewelry, shells and sand-dollars attached around her neck, or dangling from her wrists.
For a human, she’s about average; standing at a comfortable 5'8.
