In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

The man tapped along spare parchment, a piece of whittled charcoal wrapped in cloth as his instrument, keeping his form small for other passengers to get through. A heavy breath, then. He was seemingly distracted, but even his distraction in writing was plagued by something more— a small jolt as the man chuckled to the words spoken; eyes focused to older woman in turn.
"Thought I'd been more secretive with that—" He let his cackle draw out along his drawl, nodding to her. "Nervous for sure, but excited as well."
The man turned and scratched his nape, settling back as he eased the nerves about it all. "The Pearl Coast is my home, was, but is where I call my home still— before setting across the rest of the Mist Isles and finding my way here in the Reach." He answered, "A life far from the glimmering shores of home, and the oceans of the Mist Isles in turn, are one I was not prepared to feel sick about." Goral laughed, tipping his head to her. "A week's journey from the Mist Isles was not too long, but enough to remember what it was like leaving—and how I've enjoyed the journey thus far."
"Ah, and it's silly— but I hope to meet the many things that frequent the Southern Reach. The Serene Siren was a tale I'd known since I was a boy, and whilst I never saw her amidst the oceans of my home... I heard there is chance she might show here as well." He smiled. "To hear her song is one thing, but to meet her is something many of us Pearl Coast kids had dreamed of— I still hold it in my heart to do the same.
He hadn't noticed it, but he'd been awfully engrossed in conversation—attentive in his story. A smile to the older woman, awaiting her words just as she gave him room to speak his; a distraction amidst a distraction. A welcomed thing.
